Mary Beth | 974 comments I just finished The Good, the Bad, and the Undead. I just love the Hollows Series by Kim Harrison. I am still reading Finders Keepers by Stephen King and listening to Magic Bleeds (Kate Daniels, #4) by Ilona Andrews

I love this series, the fifth and last book will be out this year.
Still debating if I want to start another of her series, but she has so many books and series.

I read the Grant County series but didn't have the heart to move on to Will Trent. It still makes me mad when I think about it.

I recently picked up the first Harry Bosch book at one of the local used bookstores in my area but I don't think I'll be catching up to the group read. Just curious if anyone has checked out the Bosch series on Amazon Prime and how it stacks up to the books?

I can understand that Veronica. When I read the last book in the Grant series it really hit me. I read Slaughter's books in order so I got a taste of Will Trent before the last book and I think that was why I am able to read the Will Trent series. I hope you give Will a try one day...he is one of my favourites.

Ditto what Kris said. I read the first book in Will Trent before Kris warned me to stop and read Grant County. As upset as I was about how that series ended, I'm loving WT.

I understand EXACTLY how you feel. I didn't even want to start the Will Trent series at all, feeling betrayed by the Grant County ending.

When I finally got around to reading the first WT book, I just did not see what other readers were raving about. I decided I would try another because I wanted to be sure before I dropped the series. It was a long warm up for me -- I certainly did not fall for Will. Yet the crime stories and the interconnecting characters' stories finally hooked me, too.

If you decide to try Will Trent sometime, we'll all be interested to read your opinions. However, if you don't, there are so many authors and books out there, we'll all keep cheering each other on as we read and share!

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 656 comments I read the second John Wells book today: The Ghost War (John Wells, #2) by Alex Berenson , so I've officially gotten myself into another series; oh, dear.

I didn't give this the 5 stars I gave the first book, but 4 - 4.5 stars.
The main character is all over the globe on this one, but the writing is still intelligent and reads as if its situations are taken from the front pages of good newspapers. Threats of war on more than one front, etc. I'll have to space the books in this series out, rather than binge on them.

Are you up to date with Alpha and Omega? It's a testament to Briggs I think that when I started this Mercy book I had gotten the storylines mixed up and was expecting it to pick up where the last A&O book had left off but both series are so great that I didn't even mind when I discovered my mistake. I also love how you can see bits of the major story arc in both stories. Such a great writer that Briggs :).

So am I, Erin. There was a rough period there and I'm glad she got the series back on track. And, I'm so glad that Sophie Eastlake is doing the narration. She's made a huge difference in my listening experience.

Thanks, Charlene. I sometimes pause at the Karin Slaughter shelf and look at the Will Trent books but I'm just not ready to trust the author again. Maybe one day but, as you said, there are a lot of other books out there and at this point my TBR list has grown so big that I may never get around to reading them all in my lifetime, lol.

I think it's about time for me to go through my TBR shelf and do another purge to delete books that have been on there for years but that I'm just not really interested in anymore.

I wasn't doing audio yet with this series before Eastlake. Glad I only jumped aboard when she took over. I've heard the previous narrator wasn't great.

Pretty bad, IMO. All the characters sounded the same and she ran all of the dialogue together like she was speed reading. No inflections. Very difficult listen.

We're referring to the Chicagoland Vampires series, which began with Cynthia Holloway narrating. I won't listen to a book with her listed as narrator again.

Not everyone agrees but there were several of us reading the series together a couple of years ago and this view was unanimous amongst us.

Hey Tracey, I just wanted to add my thumbs ups for Lorelei King. At first, when I started listening to her read this series it was a bit weird because I associated her voice with the Stephanie Plum series (which she did a great job with). Now, I've come to really like how she does the Mercy Thompson books and I like the consistency. I really don't like it when some series have a bunch of different narrators. The Alpha and Omega series has different narrators but the audiobooks are still good. I've read the books and listened to them all a couple of times and still love both series.
