What series are you reading?
Liz (Bugetta) wrote: "I've got this series on my tbr - ever since Geekius reviewed the first book and mentioned the main character was an nun/assassin..."I know, right? How can you resist a nun assassin?
In the past few days, I've caught up on 3 series by reading:
#14 in the the IAD,
#3 in Sisters of the Heart and
#7 in Fatal.Finished the following books in 3 new series:
#1,
#2, and
#3 in the Scorpio Sons;
#1 and
#2 of Kathleen Turner; and
#1 of Custom Culture.I also finished
by Andy Cohen
I am now reading the following:
(50%). Not holding my attention. The H is not alpha enough and I'm not liking the h. Hopefully I'll be able to tough it out.
(37%). After the big reveal in book one, I'm not liking where this book is going with the romance so even if I finish this one, I'm not sure I'll continue with the series.
(28%). Can't see the members of MC talking the way this book is written. Just doesn't ring authentic. Not sure if I'll be able to finish.
#6 of the Fallen Angels (12%). Started this evening but as usual, it takes me a while (long pauses and stops between pages) to get into the books of this series. It's too close to real religion (if that makes sense).
You are cranking them out! I haven't started Tiffany Snow's series but have the books so I hope it gets better.
Jonetta wrote: "You are cranking them out! When I finish my review I will post - but i found the suspense lacking and I did not feel any chemistry for the couple.
I am reading book 2 of Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch series
. I am also rereading Kim Harrison's first bookin her Hollows series
on audio.
Jonetta, I hope when you get to them you'll like them more than I do but somehow, I doubt it.Kris, I had a tough time getting through these too but I am trying to give the series the test of three.
There are some things that really creeps me out when reading romance and one of them is in this series.
Jorran - I was thinking of giving of her Kathleen Turner series a shot hoping it was just this book. After hearing your feedback I might try something else instead. Even in In His Shadow I was getting a bit of creepy vibe rather than a strong romance story.
I read
Tempting Evil by Allison Brennan. The romance really didn't work for me, but the suspense was top-notch.
Debbie wrote: "I just couldn't get into

Sorry it wasn't working for you. Karen Rose though, is a sure thing.

Hey, at least something worked!

I finished Player vs Player by Amelia C. Gormley, which was interesting but the focus on the issues overwhelmed the mystery and the romance. Review to come.
I'm now reading Vision of Darkness by Tonya Burrows, D. I. E. Squadron #1. Not really interested in starting a new series but I'm a big fan of this author.

That's a glowing recommendation for Burrows...I will have to add to the read sooner tbr :)
Just starting on Divide and Conquer by Murray McDonald, billed as the first in the Sean Fox series, having just given up on the second in the Justin Hall series by Ethan Jones. Will also be moving on to Bloodline by James Rollins, number 8 in the Sigma Force Series.

I'm really enjoying it! I've been on edge with the ex being around too! Grrrr. I only have 3 hours left to listen thanks to Christmas baking and wrapping :).
Sorry to hear about your migraine though, Liz! My husband gets those sometimes and they are brutal!
Kris wrote: "I am reading book 2 of Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch series

I've heard good things about it I think and I'm contemplating trying the audios for the rest of the series (I think I'm up to book 5 or 6).

I expected to really like it because of all the Puck and Ash (and, as usual, I did adore Puck!). I found the endless walking around very boring and I found the concept of 'the gauntlet' kind of silly. I then found the big ending a little too sickly sweet but at the same time, a bit anti-climactic after all of the struggle to get to that point. I was disappointed for sure. I'm still going to keep going with Ethan's spin-off though.

What made you give up on the second book in Justin Hall?

Erin - I really enjoyed the audio for the a Hollows series. I think I liked the book even better because the audio was so good lol
No problem, Erin and Jonetta...one warning Ivy's voice was annoying to me for the first few chapters but then grew in me. I might have been the only one but just in case I'm not hang in there for a few chapters lol.

I just finished 4 books (one was a novella) in the Sutton Capital series....all romantic suspenseLegal Ease
Penalty Clause
The Baker's Bodyguard
Negotiation Tactics
I think there's one more to go.
Jonetta wrote: "I finished Player vs Player by Amelia C. Gormley, which was interesting but the focus on the issues overwhelmed the mystery and the romance. Glad you're enjoying it so much Erin. I felt like someone really needed to smack Christy upside the head (or maybe several someones :-D) but they're all so darn grown-up about her. :-D Now I'm even more excited for the next Alpha and Omega book. Is it March yet?
Yeah, migraines ugh. Sorry your husband is in the migraine club too. :-/

You know I love Amelia so that rating was hard. It's 3.5 but I can't round up to 4.

March cannot come fast enough!
Jonetta wrote What made you give up on the second Justin Hall book?I had struggled a little with the first book which seemed to take a long time to get going, and I found the second could not hold my interest for anything more than a couple of minutes.
I just finished listening to Night Broken, book #8 in the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs and it turned out to be one of my series favorites. I loved it. It was the kind of reading experience that is hanging on to the point of interfering with trying to get into my next book.
I'm now moving on to Magic Rises.

Now you've got me excited about catching up with Mercy. I think I'm supposed to start the other series (Alpha & Omega) first, though.

@Jonetta - I think you'll enjoy the Alpha & Omega series. Briggs creates great characters and stories! Charles is a very well done tortured hero, IMHO :).
Erin wrote, Have you read The Iron Knight yet, Monica?..."Not yet, now I'm kind of nervous to, lol. Maybe I'll skim and then skip to Ethan's book.
Erin wrote: "@Jonetta - I think you'll enjoy the Alpha & Omega series. Briggs creates great characters and stories! Charles is a very well done tortured hero, IMHO :)."I still need to get to this series. I own most of the books.
Last night I read
Dirty Secrets by Karen Rose. It's shown on Fictfact as #4.5 in her romantic suspense series. I'm not sure how it fits in since none of the characters seemed familiar to me. (Maybe it's my rotten memory.) But, it was a good story.

Bummer! That is sad news. What made it boring, in your opinion?
And I still have to get to Night Broken Can't wait to hear what you think!
