What series are you reading?
I finished listening to Life or Death by Michael Robotham, an interesting story made even better by an excellent narration. Here's my review.
I'm now listening to Broken by Karin Slaughter, Will Trent #4. Already hooked.

Thanks Kris.... I've only read one book by the author although I want to read more for sure. Thanks for the honest input. It's a shame it wasn't done better....
You are most welcome, Crystal. I really love the first several books of her Rizzoli and Isles series and enjoyed Bone Garden.

I am for sure. This whole Mary, Mary is really intriguing me... Who's the female we keep seeing? I'm reading as fast as I can to find out!!!!

later today after I squeeze in a stand alone."I havent read that one yet but I wanted sometime. Hope you are enjoying it.
Jonetta wrote: "I'm now listening to Broken by Karin Slaughter, Will Trent #4. Already hooked."I couldn't put that one down, Jonetta. Enjoy!
I finished Broken by Karin Slaughter, another page turner in the Will Trent series (#4). I couldn't stop listening. Here's my review.
I'm now listening to Forsaken by B.J. Daniels, Beartooth Montana #3.

I finished Linda Castillo's Gone Missing and novella Long Lost. I am now reading Kate Brady's Last to Die which will finish a series (2 books) that i started many years ago and also all 4 of the author's books.
Jonetta wrote: "Is the novella a must?"I wrote a response at work but think I forgot to send :( sorry for late reply now lol. The novella does not add to the previous novel. John and Kate are on a weekend getaway and get involved in a cold case missing person case. It doesn't really set up the next novel either. It feels more like a random short story. I find that with Karin Slaughter's Will Trent novellas take off where novel ends and set you up for next book. And Slaughter makes some mention of the case in the novella. So I would totally suggest you read those and in order. I will be reading another Kate Burkholder book this month so can let you know if it makes any mention of it. Sorry that was a long answer
I read Karin Slaughter's first Will Trent book today,
.It is at least as dark as the Grant County series, imho. It began with a real twist, and I found it depressing and well written. I'll continue with the series, but I think I might have to read a romance next :-)
Thanks Charlene for your insight. I didn't realize they were like that. I've only read 1 book from her that was Pretty Girls and I was absolutely shocked that the book didn't come with warnings. So, I'm guessing all her books are like this. If so, they may not be for me.
I've read all of Grant County and four books into Will Trent. Karin Slaughter's stories are gritty, often gruesome and have characters that often cross back and forth over the hero line. She presents them realistically and it's never pretty. Not for the sensitive or faint of heart.
Crystal & Jonetta,I did read a romance today, and balance is once again restored in my reading world. I will go back to the Will Trent series, but I do have a lot of my TBR books that came in to the library all at once, so it will be a while before I order the next ones by Karin Slaughter.
Exactly, Jonetta.I didn't realize that the romance I read is the first in a series, so I'll list it here. I liked Lorraine Heath's first book in the Hellions of Havisham series,
.
Oh, feel free to list whatever you're reading. If it's in a series, just give us the details!
I'm a big Heath fan and am working my way to this series.

This is the first I've heard of this book/series... so YAY. It's now on my list. :-)
FYI, this and one other series are spinoffs of her Scoundrels of St. James series, which feature their parents. Just in case you're manic about order.

I'm also planning to get to this series soon, after the Scoundrels of St. James. I love Heath.
Speaking of Lorraine Heath, I just finished
which is the first book in her Daughters of Fortune series. It's great to get back to reading her books. I have to say that anyone who wants to read this series should read her Rogues in Texas series first since those characters play heavily into this book.

Here's my review of The Truth About Him by Molly O'Keefe. Needed to wait until closer to its release date.
I have been reading the Abby Cooper books pretty much back to back and have really enjoyed them until I read
(#11) yeah... I have read a lot in this series. Here is my latest review.
I have really enjoyed this series however, the swear jar and " it doesn't count if..," got extremely old. There were personality traits I wanted the author to change early on in the series which she didn't and this just added to my frustration of Abby.
There are so many mysteries out there to read and I'm done with this one.

If you're not enjoying a series, it doesn't make sense to keep plowing on. Kudos to you for deciding to stop. I often will just keep going on.

I just finished Before the Storm by Leslie Tentler and I really enjoyed it. Thanks for the rec, Jonetta! I'm hoping this will be the first book in at least a 2 book series. The author says on her page that she became quite engaged with the characters, so she could possibly continue their stories. I hope so!

I'm really glad you enjoyed it, Monica. I participated in the blog tour and the author tweeted me that she was working on more books. I think it's a question of whether she can get them published.

I'm back to Laura Griffin, now reading
. Imagine my shock when I found out that one of the psychopath brothers in this book has the same name as my dear husband. Starting Chapter 20 today; couldn't stay awake to finish it in the wee hours.

Yes, indeed. My husband of 47 years is the opposite of the imprisoned villain as could be imagined, thank God.

So that's great news, hopefully it'll find its way into our hands.

It is very different than her series (is more like her other standalone novel The Bone Garden). I was really enjoying it till the last quarter of the book where the story started to fall apart. I did not care for the ending. I'm a Tess Gerritsen fan so I am glad I read it but not one I would read again.
