D.G. Not yet...I got into the final action and another book caught my attention. I'll probably finish it in a next few days.

I'm listening now to The Search by Nora Roberts . This book has at least 200 too many pages. It's like she didn't have an editor!

I'm enjoying some parts but very slow for romantic suspense and even for a romance.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 656 comments Today I'm reading the tenth book in the Rizzoli & Isles series, by Tess Gerritsen: Last to Die (Rizzoli & Isles, #10) by Tess Gerritsen .

So far it's another odd one, but also intriguing. I have to admit the Mephisto Club is not my favorite group in fiction, but the thing happening to foster children is scary and I'm not far enough to have a clue. Don't expect to get one, for that matter....

I finished Three Proposals and a Scandal by Anna Campbell, Sons of Sin #4.2, and loved it! 4.5 stars and a nice story for the beleaguered Marianne Seaton.

I finished listening to Love After All by Jaci Burton, Hope #4, and it was much better than the previous story, an honest, mature romance.

Lastly, I finished Temptation by Robin Covington, Nashville Nights #1, and it was a solid 3 stars. Here's my review.

I'm now reading Cold Moon by Alexandra Sokoloff, The Huntress/FBI #3, and listening to Redemption by B.J. Daniels, Beartooth Montana #2.

Thanks, Kris

I think I did enjoy it a bit better than the first, but that's speaking of degrees of difference that are close :)
I'm certainly wondering about follow-through with the recuperation at the end of the book! I'll be ordering the next book in this series soon.

I'm really engaged with this story already. A good thing about the series is that one can pick up the next book and catch up with the main characters instantly.

Robin (robinmy) | 3513 comments This week I read a couple of books. First was House Rules (Chicagoland Vampires, #7) by Chloe Neill House Rules by Chloe Neill. Great addition to the series.

My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I attempted to read Hot Dish by Connie Brockway Hot Dish by Connie Brockway. I like her historical romances but I just could not get into this story. DNF for me.

My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Yesterday I read Deadly Offerings (Deadly Trilogy, #1) by Alexa Grace Deadly Offerings by Alexa Grace. She's a new author for me. This book had some problems and was in dire need of an editor. I found several mistakes throughout the book.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 656 comments I just finished the most recent Thunder Point book by Robyn Carr, A New Hope (Thunder Point, #8) by Robyn Carr , and I notice that my 3-star rating is lower than most readers gave it. The story should have appealed to me, and it should have satisfied me, since I especially liked its predecessor {Grace and Troy's story}. The follow-up to that was good, so was the introduction of new characters, but the baggage-laden romance between Ginger and Matt just did not work for me, as much as I wanted it to.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 656 comments Jonetta wrote: What didn't work for you?

I think part of it was timing, Jonetta.
Ginger seemed to have made such strides in her recovery since we saw her in the last book, and I wondered if the time between books in the story world was sufficient for the necessary stages of grief to take place. Of course, it would be great if real life happened this way....

Likewise, I didn't think Matt could have been so transformed to tender lover -- from slutty guy -- and considering marriage when his double baggage (including keeping the big secret, that wasn't such a secret for the reader) from his first marriage was tying him in emotional knots.

It just didn't ring true to me, and I fully admit I'm standing outside, looking in at all the 4 and 5 star reviews.

I was just curious. Don't worry about all the other 4 or 5 star reviews as it's your personal experience. Grace's emotional growth felt right to me as most of that began in the last book. Matt's was pretty fast, though. I just liked him:)

I finished listening to A Faint Cold Fear by Karin Slaughter and I'm still speechless. This is one of the most emotionally complex series I've read in a long time, if ever. Nothing predictable about it. 4 stars.

I finished two reviews for books I read earlier. Here's my review for Three Proposals and a Scandal by Anna Campbell and my review of Memory Man by David Baldacci.

I'm now listening to Gone Missing by Linda Castillo.

Mitchell by K.A. Mitchell. This is the final book in the first m/m series I ever read. I cheated and skipped book three because the main character didn't interest me at all.
