Robin (robinmy) | 3513 comments I finished listening to Texas! Lucky (Texas! Tyler Family Saga, #1) by Sandra Brown Texas! Lucky by Sandra Brown. I loved this book when I read it 20+ years ago. But it just didn't stand the test of time for me.

Today I finished Her Scandalous Marriage (The Turnbridge Sisters, #1) by Leslie LaFoy Her Scandalous Marriage by Leslie LaFoy. Even though the story did have some problems, I enjoyed it overall and plan to continue the series.

D.G. For the last couple of months I've been in a "read old books from TBR" kick so I've been reading lots of first in series and standalones. Right now, I'm reading three books Royal Street (Sentinels of New Orleans, #1) by Suzanne Johnson , which I haven't finished but I'll probably won't continue - I'm not impressed with what I've read so far.

I'm also reading Games of Command by Linnea Sinclair , a sci-fi romance, which is taking a long time to get going but with it being over 500 pgs., it probably needs to develop slowly.

I'm also still listening to The Tudor Secret (The Spymaster Chronicles, #1) by C.W. Gortner , which I'll probably have to put on hold for a while because I'm starting a buddy read tomorrow and I only have the audio.

I'm loving "clearing out" my TBR, too. Though I'll never see it at zero.

D.G. Jonetta wrote: "I'm loving "clearing out" my TBR, too. Though I'll never see it at zero."

LOL, that's not possible!

What I'm trying to do is just read books that have been on my TBR for a year or more instead of just reading recent stuff. Of the books above, the first one has been on my TBR since 2013 and the second one since 2011! I'm trying to avoid them celebrating their 2 and 4 year anniversary on my TBR! Hahahaha!

I have been trying to do the same! I have a goal for this year to read at least 10 books off the last page of my Shelfari bookshelf. I will continue it next year but use the date added on GR. It has also helped me tidy up my TBR list because if I keep skipping a book then I obviously do not want to read it and off it goes.

I finished listening to Dark Places by Gillian Flynn last night and it is aptly titled. It's one of those stories you can't stay away from though you're also repelled by. Here's my review.

I'm now back to my favorite detective, Harry Bosch, listening to The Last Coyote by Michael Connelly.

Just realized I haven't posted an update in awhile!

I finished Barefoot with a Bodyguard by Roxanne St. Claire, Barefoot Bay Undercover #1, and, despite the heroine having a couple of TSTL moments, I really enjoyed the story. The series is off to a great start and I'll post a review later.

I also finished Strange Bedfellows by Cardeno C., a sweet m/m romance. Here's my review.

Lastly, I finished listening to The Last Coyote by Michael Connelly, Harry Bosch #4, and loved it! It's chock full of twists and surprises, jaw droppingly so. Review to come.

I'm halfway through reading Back to Us by Christi Barth, Shore Secrets #3.

I'm now listening to Memory Man by David Baldacci, Amos Decker #1, and I'm already hooked. There's music to add to the drama and it's working.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 656 comments I did finish Déjà Dead (Temperance Brennan, #1) by Kathy Reichs and liked it enough to order the second book in the series from the library.

I haven't looked up the relative publishing dates between the Temperance Brennan series (here noted) and the Rizzoli & Isles series, but I have to say my biggest reservation here was that the (view spoiler).

I hope this doesn't continue, nor the few TSTL actions by the heroine.

Robin, I liked them (I think I gave them all 4 stars).

I especially liked several of the characters in this third book, but my memory is not what it should be, so I'm guessing I liked the way the H/h matches came about in all.

They are three sisters, so the stories do follow up with previous characters. Not one is a cliff-hanger, though. Self-contained stories...

If you read them, I'd like to know your opinion of them.

I finished Hope Burns by Jaci Burton, Hope #3, and it was just okay. I've enjoyed the series to date and this one is the weakest. Not bad...here's my review.

I also finished reading The Maid's Quarters by Holly Bush, Crawford Family #2.5, a sweet, short historical romance.

Lastly, I finished listening to Memory Man by David Baldacci, Amos Decker #1, and loved it! It's one of the few times I was completely stumped through most of the story. The dual narrators gave voice to their characters anytime they had dialogue so that was a bit different but I liked it, as well as dramatic background music at times. 4.5 stars

I'm now reading Hailey's Truth by Cate Beauman, The Bodyguards of L. A. County #3, and listening to Love After All by Jaci Burton, Hope #4. I'm already preferring listening to this series.
