Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 656 comments This week, I was able to read four books from different series, and I really liked all of them:

Fourth and most recent in the Omega Sector RS series,
Leverage by Janie Crouch

Tenth and final in the LCR RS series,
Chances Are (Last Chance Rescue #10) by Christy Reece

Eighth in the Maiden Lane Romance series,
Dearest Rogue (Maiden Lane, #8) by Elizabeth Hoyt

Fifth in the Survivor's Club Romance series,
Only a Promise (The Survivors' Club, #5) by Mary Balogh

I'm ready to start a new audio so I read the description for this one and I read a couple of reviews and now I'm scared to read it. Lol! I'm afraid it's going to make me feel like The Fault in Our Stars did (beautifully written but left me in the depths of despair). Have you recovered from reading it?

message 1855: by Erin (new)

Erin (erin36) | 484 comments I finished a couple more books:

Smooth Talking Stranger by Lisa Kleypas (3rd book in her Travis series) -- this was an audio re-read and once again I adored the story (and Jack) but I definitely did not enjoy the narrator.

The Chocolate Garden by Ava Miles (2nd book in the Dare River series) - I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as the first in the series. It started out strong but the book overall was way too sickly sweet for my tastes. Hopefully the next book in the series is just a bit more gritty.

Do you remember the narrator? Re Chocolate Garden, the next book is definitely grittier but balanced against a southern belle.

Yikes! I read a couple of her books from 2012/2013 but I didn't comment on the level of heat. I was underwhelmed with the whole thing - the plots are soo convoluted!

message 1859: by D.G. (new)

D.G. In the last week or so, I've read the following:

Rex Rising (Elei's Chronicles, #1) by Chrystalla Thoma - an old freebie that's been on my TBR for years. Not bad! I'm definitely reading the next one in the series (happily, I found the rest of the trilogy on Lendle.)

Remember When (Remember Trilogy, #1) by T. Torrest - cute and funny story. A bit high on drama but it was set in high school so what can you expect? Looking forward to the second book, set 10 years later. (This is a trilogy about the same couple.) Good narration.

The Singer (Irin Chronicles, #2) by Elizabeth Hunter - although I wasn't as crazy about the first book, I had to read this one to see them get together again. Once I did, I have no desire to read the last one. Narrator's voice is great but he needs to get better. His voice is too low at times and he sounds like he's whispering.

Play (Stage Dive, #2) by Kylie Scott - this is it with me and this series. these guys act like they are teenagers instead of being in their late 20s. The narrator doesn't have good male voices at all.

Appointment with Death (Hercule Poirot, #19) by Agatha Christie - finally I'm back to the Agatha Christie's re-read on audio. Hugh Fraser is so freaking good as the narrator and this book is freaking awesome.

Lions And Lace (Van Alen Sisters #1) by Meagan McKinney - Liked the setting in Knickerbocker Manhattan but I wanted to strangle both H and h. Not continuing the series.

I believe the narrator was Emily Durante. I didn't like her voice for Jack at all so that was a bummer. I also felt like she created a lighter vibe for the story than what I had pictured which took away from the intensity of the romance a bit.

Going to dive into Briggs' Alpha and Omega series. Hopefully there's not too much Mercy Thompson stuff that carries over since I haven't read that yet.

You can read the prequel and book 1 but definitely don't read book Alpha & Omega book 3 (maybe not even 2.) Around this time both series get intertwined and it's better to read them in publication order.

I just finished Once and Again by Elisabeth Barrett, the first book in her new Return to Briarwood series, and very much enjoyed the story. It's not your typical second chance story and there's a strong secondary cast of characters. Here's my review.

I'm now reading Second Chance Summer by Jill Shalvis, first book in her new Cedar Ridge series.

Katherine Couch | 28 comments Just finished the Cafferty and Quinn trilogy by Heather Graham by finishing book 3 The Dead Play On. The Dead Play On (Cafferty and Quinn, #3) by Heather Graham

The combination of a new relationship, paranormal, and danger was excellent in all three books of the series.

Monica | 860 comments I finished listening to Croak (book #1 Croak) by Gina Damico and I enjoyed it. There was such a buildup of the romance and it just scratched the surface. So that was disappointing, but I'm hoping it lives up to the build up in later books.

Erin got me all nostalgic for the Travises so I decided to get the audiobooks and give them a listen. Starting with Sugar Daddy by Lisa Kleypas.

Now I'm trying to decide between two books, Second Chance Summer by Jill Shalvis or Chasing Impossible by Katie McGarry. I'm feeling like either one is a win. But am I more in the mood for adults or teenagers? That is the question ;)

D.G. I just DNF'ed a book I've had in my TBR since 2013 - Dark Light (Dark Light, #1) by S.L. Jennings , very over the top writing.

Now I'm listening to The Tudor Secret (The Spymaster Chronicles, #1) by C.W. Gortner , which I picked up only because of Steve West, the narrator - he also narrated The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater and I fell in lust with his voice then! Hahahaha! That's also featured author for the Historical Mystery group.

I finished Second Chance Summer by Jill Shalvis, first book in her new Cedar Ridge series. Loved the story, hated the romance. Here's my review.

I also finished Barefoot Bound by Roxanne St. Claire, Barefoot Undercover prequel, and enjoyed the story! If you haven't read her Guardian Angelinos series, this is a great introduction to Gabe Rossi and his family. Here's my review.

I'm now reading Barefoot with a Bodyguard, the first full length book in the new Barefoot Undercover series.
