thanks to you i'm clearing up my shelf & you are still plodding through. remember... Midnight's Children, The Goldfinch, Crime and Punishment (though you managed to finish this, but only after me :P) :P :P *puts on sunglasses*
reg. The Japanese Wife, no comments :( :(
Good for you na? ;) :PMidnight's Children... Grrr I am still pissed at the one who nominated it and those that voted for it! :P ;)
As for Goldfinch and the rest.. good for you! I finished a lot more other books in the meanwhile! :P :P
Btw - when you took me on as a buddy, I told you that you would always finish before me because I get distracted all the time! :P :P
you get distracted by other books, I've several other distractions!!! :-P :-P :-P you should change the name of the thread to distracted buddies :-P :-P :-P
Hahahaha.. that sure has a nice ring to it.. Distracted buddies! :P :PI can understand my distraction but pray tell me what are you so distracted with? Huh? :P :P
I won't let go of that revealing point my dearest girl!! SO brace yourself for some mighty questions later! :P :PIn other news, I have read a total of 20 books till now! Good month eh? :P :P
Thank you! But there are others who have done way more than me! :P :P But I am happy. This has been a good month till now and I have some great books to finish now, including Rose... :P :P
As I said DeeJ..there are many who have read much more than me and not just this month! But I am happy with my reads for this month and it's not over as yet..so there's still time! :)
Excatly! But I will stop reading in between cause of exams and things, so it is just a bit slow for me..... but yeah... there is still a year left :)
Absolutely! And not just this year.. there is a lifetime of reading left for you. So don't worry! :)

that was quick Gehna :P :P
Good morning Mish! I have started this one again and am going steadily on it but won't be around much to discuss it till March! Will try to pop in when I can to post some comments but I don't know how feasible that will be.
Am traveling for the next two days and then it will be complete wedding madness for the coming 10 days, so take care and read well. Will discuss when I come back :)
Hi Mish! How are you? ;) :PAm back but not completely. Will get back fully only from sometime next week. In the mean while will start reading Rose once again and hope to finish it this month definitely! :D
See you soon! :) :)

i received no notif for this :( :(
I saw your comment! :P :PYes I finally finished this one last night and boy what a ride it was! Totally loved it; theology, philosophy and all! :)
In the words of yore (does anyone know who first came up with this awesome expression?)THREE ROUSING CHEERS!
Hahaha no worries Mish. Let's move onto the next one :PI haven't seen the movie Smitha but I want to. I found the book very interesting, especially the various debates because it was quite enlightening to me and also kind of relatable, simply because irrespective of the religion we follow - theological pandits feel the same way! Lol!

I lost my patience in the first few pages itself :/
I know it is a difficult book to read, simply because of the pretentiousness that is obvious from the prose and the often never ending debates on the various aspects of Christian religion and the various philosophies that they adhere to..but if you are interested in those sorts of things, which incidentally I am, it becomes fascinating to read; even when there are times you don't grasp everything at one go or there is a need to go back and read again. It is actually not a book for everyone, other than the mystery part, which unfortunately comes much later and does quite well pace wise. However, most of the book is about history and religion and the debates that were on during that time, which can be quite tedious to read.
Well .. I would say "Never say never" as you never know when you might just be in a mood for such a book. I have always felt that books are mood directed. Very often I find myself reading something that I wouldn't otherwise read, simply because I was in a mood for something like that! So who knows.. you might just like the debates and discussions! :P
Yes, I too do the same. Some books which I have given up at one time have been read with gusto some other time. And reverse also holds true - a book I fondly remember of, sometimes feels 'meh' 'bleh' on a reread.
I have the same problem as well! There are so many books that I loved while reading it the first time, only to wonder what i found so good, when I read it the second time! :( Growth of a reader, I guess! ;) :P
Sri, plz move The Name of the Rose to "Books Completed" . lets gloat for a while, before moving on to the next one :P :P
ahhhhh ...... finally i got a notif for this thread.Smith, next one The Brothers Karamazov prolly. but don't ask when :P :P
