Kip's grandfather is a jerk.
Also agree that the reason the Prism wants to take out the blue luxlord was so that he doesn't get found out - also why he will be avoiding The White.

Lots of funny moments - like Kip trying not to get an erection while at the tailors - Quick Kip, think about baseball stats!
Kip's trying to control his tongue but is still saying things he only thinks he thought in his head... That's progress though
I bet Kip will be lose the fat soon...He seems to be hungry quite often at the Chromeria and apparently everyone gets served the same amount. But you still need to eat a lot to put on muscle. I've always wondered how guys get so buff in prison. You need a lot of calories to bulk and bologna sandwiches just aren't gonna cut it.
Good on Gavin to know when to keep his mouth shut and just hug Karris "Sometimes a man's highest calling is simply to stand, and hug". Whenever my wife is sad or upset I always want to give suggestions to fix things, but most of the time it seems she just wants a hug or for me to listen. Venus and Mars.
What's up with Teia's unrecognized color?
We start getting a peak at Gavin's 7 great goals, finally..I thought for a minute we'd get to read them all, but some are still shrouded in mystery. I wonder what the higher purpose 4 of the 5 remaining goals serve?
Pretty sure losing blue is the result of the knife too, but interesting that Gavin is dreaming of his brother escaping the blue prison.
Loved the discussion of number systems and found the discussion of the base 12 number system being inherently evil pretty funny. It does have a growing following:

Also looks like there is some base 7 going on with the weights.
I want to learn to use the abacus.
Liked the quote about those who make their living with their mind having outsized pride in making stuff with their hands
I do like the pacing, and I like Kip's story more, but I still can't stand Kip. I think I'd like this a lot more if I found him even remotely likeable. Instead I'm liking it despite him.
Simon Vance is such a great narrator. He definitely enhances the story.
Kip's grandfather is too over the top evil for my tastes. I found it boring and annoying.
Teia is the most interesting part of the book so far. A welcome relief to the stupidness of Kip.

Um. That scene that you're referring to doesn't happen in this section of the book. Please be careful about stuff like that.
Didn't Gavin just get stabbed? Wouldn't he have some physical effects from that?
I like the whole blackguard training sequence so far.
I am having trouble keeping track of the different satrapes and races in the world. They are mentioned so infrequently and usually all at the same time that I never really seperate out their different looks and qualities. Also would have been helpful if I rembered who sided with who in the prism war and what the different factions are supposed to be.
