How to add a book to my dashboard

Karen. First you have to add the book here in Goodreads, and then you claim it as yours. Are you already confirmed as a Goodreads author?
When it comes out join PnPAuthors where we spotlight author's books for free.http://pnpauthorspattimariandpeter.ni...
T.H.: The book is on Goodreads and is in my profile -- just not in my dashboard.Pattimari -- thanks! (Am I correct that this invitation is prompted by, but not a direct response to, my question?)
Well that's strange. You might want to email a librarian. Mine was immediately in my dashboard after I claimed it.
Yes, it was prompted by your question. I thought I had answered your question as well, but incase it didn't go through, here is what I said~
Once you upload a book of yours to goodreads for your bookshelf it automatically is in your dashboard if you claim it as yours. I think I didn't actually send this message earlier because I noticed someone else had answered it already.
I didn't absorb what you said until you repeated it with slightly different emphasis -- thanks! How do you claim a book as yours once it's added? I was the one who asked for it to be added, so I didn't realize there was a separate claiming procedure. (And yes, I'm already confirmed as a Goodreads author, I believe.)
This is what I found in the help topics:My book has already been added to Goodreads, but it's not showing on my author profile. How do I claim it as the author?
For a book to show up on your author profile, the name on the book must match your profile exactly. So a book listed with author John C. Smith won't show up on John Smith's profile.
If you are one of several authors with the same name, you may have one or more extra space(s) between your first and last name. They are only visible on edit pages, but any books imported to the database will need to be edited to add the additional space(s).
Post in the Goodreads Librarians group and a librarian will edit your book to match your profile.
Now I'm confused again. The book is in my profile, but not in my dashboard. So have I "claimed" it or not?
My bookshelf? I have a few of them, all the sort of bookshelves a non-author would have. I didn't use a bookshelf to add the book to Goodreads -- I believe I used a thread on some group to ask a more experienced librarian to do that. Do authors have some special kind of bookshelf?
I don't think so, Karen. If we do, I haven't found it yet. But your book should show up in your Dashboard. If it doesn't, Post in the Goodreads Librarians group to ask someone to help you:https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...
Librarians have no control over author dashboards. If it were not on Karen's author profile (https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...), librarians could help with that. But the dashboard (which no one sees other than the author themselves) is not something librarians can assist with.
Hi Karen,We only show 6 books on the first "page" of your books in your dashboard. Playback Effect is book number 7, so it should be on page 2. Look for the page navigation in the bottom right corner of that section on the Dashboard.
Sorry about that!

It can be added manually whenever you want if you have the information available to complete.as quoted by the rivka in another thread
"The timing of the Amazon imports depend on many factors, so they are highly variable".
I would presume the same applies to BN import, not sure they do an import from Apple.
Thanks. I've searched for it, but it hasn't appeared yet. Sounds like I need to wait until it appears.Cheers
J
I don't believe we currently import from B&N or Apple directly, although some publishers may provide that information in their feeds to us.Authors can manually add their own books as well. No need to wait for an import.
Goodreads gets the Ingram/onix data feeds almost all publishers use, the amazon.com data feed plus others I am not sure of. I do know the Barnes and Noble feed is no longer used (and I don't think either Apple or Google Play ever were used).Members their first week here can all pretty much add any book not already in the database or request over in the librarian's group to have a book added for them.
Authors have most librarian privileges but just over their own books -- but, always have a choice of manually editing their book data or posting over in librarians group for a librarian to do for them. Sometimes if someone cannot find a book they'll add a duplicate edition and if don't spell author's name correctly it won't appear on the author's page or let the author edit the book (have to ask for librarian assistance).

Thanks!
