I probably would, but not to the degree that Michael in the book does which if you read the book you will probably find out why !!!
World War ll is raging and Germany is struggling to control and take over as much of Europe as it can. A boy named Michael O’ Shaunessey, originally from Ireland, now lives in Nazi Germany with his parents. Michael appears to be a typical German boy. He goes to Hitler Youth and does and says everything that he is required of as being part of the Hitler youth. But Michael has one big secret. He and his parents are spies and work for the Irish Embassy which is supposed to be neutral during the war but instead opposes everything that Hitler is doing. As with Michael and his family they despise everthing that the Nazi’s stand for.
He joins the Hitler Youth’s horrific games and book burnings, playing the part so he can gain insider knowledge. When Michael learns about Project 1065, which is a secret Nazi war mission to assigniate a famous scientists things get even more compliciated. Along with having to stay undercover they let a wounded british soldier into their house and still have to do everything they can do stay on tract and complete the mission that they came for. Even if means risking everything he cares about, his family, his new friend that he makes along the way and more importantly himself.
Would you have the courage and bravery to be a spy in Nazi Germany at the age of 13 even if it meant risking your life and the people you love?
