Trevor Skinner | 5 comments Picture yourself not leaving your family's property for the first twelve years of your life. Picture yourself not going to school or hanging out with friends. When you were younger, you would help your father and two older brothers with the farm, but only because a forest flanked your backyard. The forest is the only thing preventing you from being stuck in the attic all day and night. Then, the government informs your family that they would be tearing down the forest to insert a new neighborhood for the wealthy, upper class, known as "Barons". This is the life of a shadow (third) child, named Luke Garner. Luke remains in the attic for months, until he discovers that another third child lives in one of the new houses.

Is risking Luke's safety and the safety of his family, worth meeting another shadow child?

I would say yes. I do not think it would really be worth it to meet another friend and risk the lives of your loved ones.

Wow sounds like a good book and for your question I feel like that Luke should not risk the safety of his family. I feel like his family and him are close and putting them in danger would not help anyone even if it meant being able to meet another shadow child.
