I really enjoyed reading this. The author actually made me feel like I was there. Hoping to read more by Elizabeth Wein.
I had mixed feelings about this book. Like several others, I struggled through the beginning of the book. The second half drew me in, however.
Overall, I did enjoy this book. It was the second part of the book that made me glad that I stuck through it.It took me awhile to get into the book as the first part was so much about airplanes.
I had really high expectations for this book. I did really like it, and gave it 4 stars, but it didn't move me quite as much as I expected. I didn't even cry once. I guess I was anticipating something more like The Book Thief, which made me sob. I was occasionally confused by Julie's storytelling that involved Queenie even though the author made it perfectly clear. And I of course loved both Maddie and Queenie/Julie. I agree with Laura that the second part of the book was better than the first.
I found the first half hard to follow. They way it is written doesn't lend for a linear plot line but it eventually starts to come together. I found the second half very confusing at first since, (view spoiler). Once I was done with the book I wanted to read the first half all over again right away.

Just ... oh.
It's 4:38 in the morning. I have to be up in 3 and a half hours.
I'm still sniffling.
