Ponyboy is the 14-year-old brother of SodaPop and Darry. He is being raised by his older brother Darry since his parents died in a car wreck. Ponyboy has to deal with being poor, the loss of his parents, getting along with his brothers, the rival gang the Socs, and the death of 2 of his friends. Ponyboy is very smart but sometimes he doesn't think about how his actions can impact others.

How does Ponyboy survive the conflicts in his life? Is he able to change and move away from the life of a greaser or settle for his old life?
