Fantasy. Likely YA. Book 1. She is a young woman who can "talk" to objects/buildings with her touch so she is always wearing gloves. She was once a slave when someone performed an illegal procedure on her that gave her this ability and she still has the scars on her head. She steals as a job and there is a guild that creates magic items that help her with this. She winds up stealing a key that is an ancient spirit/god that one of the "houses" needs to bring back another more powerful ancient god. The "Houses" tend to be the more affluent portions of society and she lives more on the outskirts. She gets found by a soldier/general of the house she stole the key from but convinces him to help her rather than arrest her. Towards the end of the book she has to scale a mountain that is hiding the workshop of said house and contains the remains of the old gods that someone is trying to bring back. I read this book roughly 2 months ago, but I believe that it is no more than 2 or 3 years old. I think I read that Book two is due out in January of 2020. Written in english, I read it as an ebook.
