I'm reading the Wolf Hall trilogy by Hilary Mantel, which will knock out three tasks for this year's challenge. For this task (#7), I'll read the second book Bring Up the Bodies. For task #16 (door stopper) I'll read the first one, Wolf Hall. Finally I'll read the last book for task #9 (last book in a series) The Mirror & the Light. I'm on the first book now.

Enjoying it so far!
The Bridge on the Drina by Ivo Andrić was my choice for this challenge, as I'm also trying to read Nobel Laureates these days. This was set on the border between Bosnia and Serbia from the 16th century to the start of World War I. Serbs, Turks, Sephardic Jews and Roma live alongside each other beside a bridge built by an Ottoman Grand Vizier. Sometimes it's peaceful, and often it's not. There are some gruesome scenes of violence, one of which will haunt you, but this was definitely worth reading.
It helps to know a little about Ottoman and Balkan history, and the introduction gives a broad overview.

Thank you!!
Would this fit? Florence Adler Swims ForeverThe book takes place in the 1930's and while there is mention of the plight of the jews in Germany at the time war has not yet begun and the real focus of the story is the life of a few people in New Jersey dealing with a family situation. It is based on a true story, but has been fictionalized.

To insert the image, you should see "add book/author" above your comment box. It defaults to link, but you can switch to cover. I don't think this works on the app, just on PC.

A bit off-topic, but how do you insert the images of the covers? Thanks!
