goodreads is becoming less useful with every change

I primarily use Goodreads to keep up with friends' progress and what they regard as being good books. Recommendations that fly out of some database fancy isn't what I wanted. Especially recommendation based on books I bailed on. Doesn't even make sense. Please improve and focus your site. Can't even get topic going about the web site.
