Probably read this book about 2/3 years ago. I can't quite remember many details or names which sort of sucks because I've been trying to find this book for about a year now and no such luck.

What I can remember though is that the book starts off when the male and female protagonist are in high school. One day after school, the girl is waiting by the bus stop and the boy offers her a ride home. She refuses and he keeps insisting, letting her know that the last bus of the day has already left and it's quite a walk to her house. She agrees and after that day they become okay with each other. Eventually they start seeing each other. She loves art, but has to hide it from her mother because she doesn't approve. She can't wait to leave her home once she graduates, but for now she's stuck there and living with her brother isn't an option.

Along the line, the boy and girl tell each other their plans for school. She tells him what college she wants to go to and study what and he does the same. However, it doesn't work out with them and they stop seeing each other.

Quite a few years later, the girl needs a place to stay so she decided to reach out to her brother who is more than happy for her to come live with him. Although, he does let her know that he has a roommate as well. Turns out that the roommate is the boy from her past. They hate each other even after all these years.

Later they find out that when they stopped seeing each other all those years ago, he enrolled in the college she wanted to go to in chances of seeing her again, and she did the same with the college he wanted to go to. Obviously, they both weren't there. The boy ended up becoming a cop and she did a degree in a specific field but is not wanting to pursue her art dreams. She starts working at a local art gallery where she submits her own pieces.

Eventually, they work things out and start seeing each other again but keep it quiet from her brother, who is also the boy's friend.

That's all I remember and I really hope someone can help me find this. Would really appreciate it so much!
