Lyrics for "Hand of Sorrow" by Nightwish, which is based on this book:
The child without a name grew up to be the hand
To watch you, to shield you or kill on demand
The choice he'd made he could not comprehend
His blood a grim secret they had to command
He's torn between his honor and the true love of his life
He prayed for both but was denied
So many dreams were broken and so much was sacrificed
Was it worth the ones we loved and had to leave behind?
So many years have past, who are the noble and the wise?
Will all our sins be justified?
The curse of his powers tormented his life
Obeying the crown was a sinister price
His soul was tortured by love and by pain
He surely would flee but the oath made him stay
He's torn between his honor and the true love of his life
He prayed for both but was denied
So many dreams were broken and so much was sacrificed
Was it worth the ones we loved and had to leave behind?
So many years have past, who are the noble and the wise?
Will all our sins be justified?
Please forgive me for the sorrow, for leaving you in fear
For the dreams we had to silence, that's all they'll ever be
Still I'll be the hand that serves you
Though you'll not see that it is me
So many dreams were broken and so much was sacrificed
Was it worth the ones we loved and had to leave behind?
So many years have past, who are the noble and the wise?
Will all our sins be justified?

I finished reading this book in just under three days. Loved it. Robin Hobb has a knack for creating characters you care about and writing a moreish story.
Again, I read this years ago.
But I loved it! And oddly enough, I find that that makes it slightly more difficult to discuss.
I loved the book. I loved the world, I adored the characters (well most of them.) I loved the various relationships throughout the story, and was most definitely emotionally invested in the outcome.
I've enjoyed almost all of Hobb's books.
I haven't read her Soldies's Son series yet, as I couldn't really get into the story when I last attempted it - though my hubby maintains that once you do get into it, it's a great read.
I think only her City of Dragons from the Rain Wild's Chronicles disappointed me. But that was due to the book feeling more like a filler than full novel, and having bought the hardcover to match my set, I was somewhat underwhelmed and definitely not entirely satisfied.
Having said that, I am elated that Hobb has returned to this world for another The Fitz and the Fool Trilogy

This book was epic!
Let's see. So much to discuss and ask:
1. Fav character?
2. Who did you identify with?
3. Do you understand why Chivalry chose to not be king, just because of Fitz?
4. Do you think Verity will make a good king?
5. Is it just me, why does Burrich hate Fitz's Wit so much?
6. Do you think the King had a hand in the events that occurred in the last few chapters? Did he know Regal's plan?
7. Character you would like to know more about and see more in the next book?
8. Anything you want to discuss?

I think a re-read is definitely in order.
but I already have far too many books on the TBR!
One thing I remember, and that amused me,(outside of it being rather sad) - Anyone else find the irony in "Chivalry dying"?
