Just finished! And it was great.
For a book that won the Terry Pratchett Prize, I was expecting something humorous, that which is pretty much Pratchett's trademark. The other Terry Pratchett Prize winner (for 2011) that I have read is Apocalypse Cow by Michael Logan, which is outright hilarious. I loved it so much and couldn't stop laughing, even now thinking back on it.
So forgive me if I had some sort of laughter expectations going into The Hive Construct. No laughs here, but still a great book. It's serious. It's suspenseful and just really good.
I loved that it is set in a future new Cairo, with an interesting set up. I loved that one of the protagonists is a female hacker. And I loved how everything came together and ended.
