"There really isn't anything to praise her for. But we do praise her when we have to pester her into giving us her tests at school." She replied.

She nodded. "Yeah." ((Mind if we skip to the night? I have an idea that involves Caroline))
At around ten pm that night, kaya walked into their bedroom after making sure the kids were asleep. She closed their bedroom door and sighed.
"She was in Melody's bed again." She told him as she changed her clothes, keeping her back to him so he wouldn't see her chest. "I put her in her own bed."
"I always catch her in there. Curled up next to her sister. I think Melody is the only person she really talks to." She said as she crawled into bed beside him.
"Good idea." She snuggled close to him, putting her head on his shoulder.
Sometime around three in the morning, Caroline poked her dads cheek. Kaya was asleep beside him.
She tapped his cheek a little hard.
"There is someone in my room." She whispered.
"A scary man." She said and backed up.
"No! Don't wake mommy." She whispered and unfolded his chair for him. "The man doesn't like her." Kaya stirred but didn't wake.
"Come." She patted out of the bedroom and down the hall.
She waited for him in her room, standing in front of the closet. Melody was still sleeping peacefully in her bed.
"You have to open the closet." She whispered. There was in fact no one in the closet.
Caroline whimpered and stood behind his chair.
She then backed away and started to scream at the top of her lungs. Melody bolted upright in bed and covered her ears.
Caroline covered her ears and continued to scream. Kaya ran into the room. "What in the hell is happening?" She shouted over Caroline's screaming. Melody ran over to her mother and hugged her.
"Melody, go with your brother. Now." Kaya said. Melody nodded and ran out of the room. Kaya knelt down beside Jason and looked at Caroline. "Sweetie you need to stop." "It's so loud! They won't stop!" She screamed and cried.
"The voices!" She sobbed. "Oh no." Kaya muttered and looked at Jason.
"When your child is saying she's hearing voices, does that sound good to you?" She stood up and picked up Caroline and held her, even though she was eight years old. "What are they saying sweetheart?" She rubbed her back and sat on her bed.
"Bad things." She cried into her mothers shoulder.
She just shook her head. Kaya sighed and rubbed her back, then mouthed to Jason: "she needs to see a doctor."
"Let's get you sleep okay?" She whispered and wiped Caroline's eyes after she calmed down. Caroline sniffed and nodded, looking at Jason. "Daddy can you lay with me?"
"No. I want you." She said. Kaya laid her down in her bed and kissed her forehead.
Kaya left them alone to go tend to the other kids. Caroline sniffed and snuggled up to her dad.
"I'm scared daddy." She whispered.
"Okay." She whispered and closed her eyes. This is the most she has spoken in a long time.
She nodded and began to drift off to sleep.
Caroline fell asleep to her fathers voice.
The next morning Caroline shifted beside him.
Kaya walked in silently and knelt down beside Jason. "Babe." She stroked his chair.
"I made breakfast. The others are still asleep. We need to talk." She looked at sleeping Caroline.
She went behind him and wheeled him downstairs.
She parked him in the kitchen at the table, handed him a cup of coffee and say down beside him. She had bags under her eyes.
She shook her head. "No. I was up all night worrying."
"I already contacted one this morning." She told him. "Dr. Shaw. She works with kids like....Caroline. Once we find out what's wrong with her."
"I never heard mention of voices until last night." She shrugged.
"Now I feel like It's our fault." She whined and buried her face in her arms on the table.
"But you just said its because we haven't talked to her!" She argued.
Caroline then walked into the room, hugging a stifled bear to her chest.
She walked over to him and crawled onto his lap. "Good." She murmured and snuggled close to him.
"I'm hungry." She said.Kaya stood up. "I'll make you something okay?"
"No I want daddy to make me something." She replied.Kaya sighed.
Kaya sat at the kitchen table and watched them.
Kaya leaned against her dad and watched him cook.
"Can I have mini ones please?" She asked softly.
