"I will save that responsibility for you." He said. "Rest now. You can call them in the morning. Unless you really want me to now and probably wake them up.""Says the girl who blew her teacher more than once." He poked her side.
"Okay." She sighed, getting comfortable. "Hey." She pulled on his hand, looking up at him."Okay okay I guess my actions were actually illegal." She smirked.
"Hey." He looked over at her from the chair."You could do it now but it would be weird." Peter said.
"Come here." She said softly, patting the bed. She thought for a moment. "I wouldn't do something like that now. Obviously because I'm married to you and love you with all my heart but even if I wasn't with you, I still wouldn't."
He did his best to get in the bed with her. It wasn't big do he was almost falling off. "I'll stay like this until you fall asleep but then I'm going back to the chair." He told her."I know, you're a different person. I couldn't do anything with anyone else because I need a deep personal and emotional connection."
"Oh I just wanted a kiss." She murmured, smiling a little. She nodded, her face going serious for a second. "Have you ever...doubted our relationship?" She asked softly, looking into his eyes/
He smiled and kissed her lightly. "I love you."He looked out to their dark room. "There was a time after one of your breakdowns when I asked myself if I could keep doing this. I realized that I could and I would because I love you and there's no one else I could be with,"
She kissed him back. "I love you too." She nodded slowly. "I would be concerned if you didn't doubt it at least once."
"Rest now." He whispered to her. He ran his fingers through her hair."That was the one and only time I've doubted it." He said. He looked back over at her
She nodded and wiped at her eyes one more time before closing her eyes. She nodded. "I've never doubted us as a couple but I have doubted myself and my jump between loving someone and not wanting to love someone."
He hummed a lullaby for her as she laid there."As soon as I met you I knew you were the one." He told her.
She quickly fell into a deep sleep. She smiled. "I'm sorry I have to such a hard time when you wanted to marry me."
He stayed there holding her until a nurse came in to check on her. He sat in the chair and held her hand."You have to be patient with good things. I knew it would take you time so I waited." He said.
Melody slept peacefully for the whole night. The next morning, the babysitter knocked before entering, pushing Finn in in his stroller. "It was this huge mental war inside my head. One illness of mine prevents me from loving people easily and the other makes me love people or someone too much." She said
David was asleep with his head lying on the bed. He was awake omniscient of the night but fell asleep early morning."I think I know which one won." He put his hand on her cheek.
She smiled and took Finn out of the stroller and he waddled over to David, smacking his leg, smiling.She smiled and leaned into his touch. "Sort of."
David slowly woke up and smiled down at Finn. "Good alarm." He picked Finn up."You tired?" He asked her.
Finn grinned and held onto him.Cara brought in a bouquet of blue flowers, melody's favourite. "This is from everyone on the team." She said.
Caroline nodded. "Yeah." She then yawned. She looked at the clock. It was 11:30
He nodded. "Thank you for all you've done. You've been a really great help." David took the bouquet and set them close to Melody."We should sleep. I haven't been getting much lately." He said.
She smiled and nodded. "Don't worry about it." She said. "The doctor also called me last night. Our flight leaves at noon." She told him. Melody was still asleep.Finn reached out to Melody.
"How come?" She asked.
He looked at the clock. "I'll have to go back to the hotel to pack our bags.""I just have. I can't fall asleep and I wake up early." He explained.
She nodded. "I can help. Or Luke can." She said. He was the band manager, her brother.She nodded. "You should drink camomile tea."
"If he could I would really appreciate it." He rubbed his eyes. "I'll wait until Melody is awake to go.""That sounds like a good idea. I'll try that tomorrow." He shifted to he was more comfortable.
She nodded. "Do you want me to take him or are you okay?" Melody stirred, slowly waking up.
She nodded. "I'll make you some." She moved to, laying on her stomach.
"I got him for now." He nodded and looked at Melody.He was on his side and put his arm around her. "I love you."
She nodded. "I'll see you later." She smiled, then left.Melody rolled onto her back, groaning sleepily.
"I love you." She echoed, smiling.
He set Finn on the bed but didn't let him crawl on Melody.He smiled and closed his eyes.
"Hey." She smiled tiredly at fin. She reached over and pulled Finn closer. She closed her eyes too, and fell asleep.
David smiled and watched them.((Skip somewhere?))
Finn squealed happily and cuddles up to Melody, who looked over at David. "Hey."((Maybe Carolines ex can come before she goes to the place?))
"Hey. Our plane leaves at twelve. Like is going to pack our bags and bring them over." He told her.((Okay that sounds good))
"Oh, okay." She nodded. She looked at the clock. It was a little after 8. ((MAybe he could come by while the kids are at school and Peter is at work?))
"Do you mind if I try to get a little more sleep?" He asked her.((Yeah that would be good))
"Sure." She nodded. "Did you not sleep well?" She frowned. ((Could you be him?))
A few days later, Caroline was working on her new book in the small office that she made up in the corner of the living room. She folded her legs, and rubbed at her forehead while she stared at her laptop screen.
"I was just watching you all night." He told her as he sat back in the chair.((Yeah))
Matt walked up to the door and sighed. He didn't know what he expected but he had to try. He knocked on the door and waited.
She sighed. "Babe. You didn't need to do that." Caroline looked up when there was a knock at the door. She closed her laptop and stood up, wrapping her cardigan around her body as she walked down the hallway. The twins were down for their nap. She unlocked the door and opened it. "ye- oh." She paused. "Matt."
"I know. But I never won't." He said. He closed his eyes.He knew what he was going to say when she answered but when she opened the door he forget everything. "Hi Caroline."
"Here. You rest while I shower." She sat up with a grunt.Caroline pretty much looked the same from when they were sixteen, except she was slightly taller and held her weight better. Her hair was right past her shoulders, and was dyed a shade lighter than her natural blonde. "What are you...can I help you with something?" She asked.
"What about Finn?" He asked as he looked over at her.He collects himself and cleared his throat. "I'm not going to come up with an excuse or something so I'll just say it. I want to be apart of my sons life." He looked the same except he was a little taller and gray hairs had started to appear.
"Oh yeah." She sat on the edge of the bed and put Finn on her lap. "I'll just let you have the bed anyways."((Grey hairs? They're like 25, no?))
"Uh." She looked behind her into the house, then back at him. "Come in. We'll talk." She stepped aside, letting him in.
"No no. You need it. I'm good with the chair. It's comfortable." He told her.He nodded. "Thank you." He walked in past her. He stood in the foyer and looked around.
((It's not uncommon for someone to go gray early))
"If my belly wasn't so big I'd have you lay here with me." She sighed. "Would you like some tea? Coffee? Water?" She asked as she closed the door behind him. her and Peter had a normal sized home, three bedrooms and a master bedroom.
"Yeah. If the bed was better you could lay on me." He nodded.He took of his shoes. "No thank you. You have a beautiful home."
She nodded and smiled down at Finn who rubbed her belly. "Baba." He said."Yeah, baby." Melody smiled, smoothing his blonde hair back.
"Thank you." She said softly. There was some art work on the hallway walls. She led him into the living room. "Make yourself at home. Sorry for the toys on the floor." She absently picked some up and put them out of the way.
He smiled at them before leaning back and closing his eyes.He sat in the couch. He looked around the room and saw some photos of the family.
Melody put Finn on the floor and stood up and took his hand. They waddled to the bathroom together. There was a few from Peter and Caroline's wedding, and a school photo of Noah and Abbey. Pictures of the twins as newborns was there too. There was also a photo of Caroline hugging Noah from behind, both smiling at the camera. It was taken a year ago. Melody sat on the other side of the couch from him. "So...how are you?" She asked.
David quickly fell asleep.Matt looked from the photos over to Caroline. "I'm good. How are you."
((Skip ahead a little?))Melody used the bathroom with Finn.
She smiled a little. "I'm...I'm really good." She said honestly. "You probably don't expect that from me though." She tried to joke.
"Peter Gallagher! " She smacked his chest, laughing.
