"We have to go. We'll be late." He said. He stood in front of her and and looked in her eyes.

She bit her lip. "Are you as nervous as I am?" She murmured.
He nodded. "Extremely. But we can do it." He kissed her.
She nodded and kissed him back. Then she walked to the car and sat in the passenger seat.
He got in the car and sighed. "Let's go." He drove to the hospital.
"Babe it's at the clinic not the hospital." She said.
She giggled and squeezed his thigh.
Caroline got out with a grunt, holding her belly. She threw her purse over her shoulder and closed the car door.
He put his arm around her and walked in with her.
She leaned against him and together they walked up to the counter. "Hi, Caroline for 3:30?" She said.
The nurse nodded. "You can head into room 5."
He walked with her into the room and sat in the chair. He couldn't stop his leg from shaking.
She placed her purse beside him and laid down on the bed thing. She sighed and closed her eyes.
The doctor then came in. "Hello guys. Good to see you again." She smiled.
She nodded at him then walked over to Caroline. "How you feeling?""Good." She smiled.
He watched them, listening to everything.
The doctor nodded and pulled up Caroline's shirt, then squirted jelly on it. She turned on the machine. "I assume you want to find out the sex today?"
He nodded. "That's the main reason we came."
"Right. Just checking." She smiled and moved the ultrasound stick around Caroline's belly.Caroline inclined her head up to look at the screen.
He put his hand on hers and watched the screen.
The doctor moved the ultrasound around her belly, furrowing her brows at the screen. "Hmm....""What?" Caroline said. "What?" She said louder.
He moved closer and squeezed her hand a little.
"Nothing it's just...you're twin right?" She asked.Caroline nodded. "Yes but you don't us last time I wasn't having twins."
He was very confused. He looked from the screen, to the doctor, to Caroline.
"Look." She use her other hand to point at the screen. "This is the baby we've been looking at for the past four months." It looked normal am with arms and legs and a big head. "Completely healthy and growing nicely. But then when I move over here.." She moved the machine and showed them another fetus that was super small compared to the other. "There's this one. I think she was go small for us to see last time..."Caroline gasped, covering her mouth. "Oh my god..."
"Oh. Is it…healthy?" He asked. He was afraid of the answer.
The doctor bit her lip. "I mean yes it is because it's still alive, but I can't guarantee she'll be 100% percent healthy when she's born. You've still got four months left and I'm hoping she gets bigger like her brother here." Caroline had tears in her eyes. "A boy and a girl?"
He smiled. "Wow." He kissed her hand.
She sniffled. "Is she going to be okay? She's so small..."The doctor nodded. "Instead of monthly visits you can start coming in bi-weekly so we can moderate her growth. I can also give you some new medication to hopefully help. Because she's so small her brother has clearly been taking over the womb, unaware that he has a sister with him,"
He nodded. "And if she's still small at birth?"He asked.
"Then she'll be small. We can do what we can to keep her alive until she big enough, but there isn't any guarantees. I've only seen this once before and we noticed the other fetus earlier than this. But I'm sure she'll grow until birth but she'll definitely be smaller than her brother." She explained.
"Okay." He nodded slowly and watched the screen.
She took some pictures. "I'm terribly sorry for not noticing sooner.."
He nodded and looked over at Caroline.
Caroline looked upset. She stared blankly at the screen.
He rubbed his thumb over the back of her hand.
"Well everything seems to be okay. Come back in two weeks and we'll talk more about the other baby once I talk to my co-workers about. But as of right now, there's nothing to worry about." She smiled and took the machine away and wiped Caroline's belly clean. Caroline just nodded.
He stood up but still watched Caroline.
The doctor wrote a prescription down. "You pick these up at a pharmacy near you." She handed the paper to Peter. "Sorry to leave but I have my next appointment. Congratulations." She smiled then left
"Thank you." He looked at the prescription.
Caroline stayed laying down while she looked at the pictures.
He stood next to her. "Are you okay?" He asked.
She shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know." She murmured. "I just found out we're having twins...and one of them might not make it."
He took her hand again and kissed her forehead. "I love you."
She wrapped her arms around his neck and started to sob,
