I wouldn't worry about the tax in Spain until you start making a decent amount of money (which is hard enough in itself). Spain doesn't really have a system which comtemplates this type of income so unless you want to get really serious and become an editorial, then there's not much you can do. I make most of my money on amazon.com (USA customers) so I applied for a US tax number and now I lose only 5% (I think it is). I currently do not declare this income because it is insignificant but when it becomes over a few hundred a month I will have to investigate and find a solution.

Your situation is a bit complicated and I can't really help. You should probably speak to a Gestor in Spain, they should know the legalities, but in my experience they are a bit dodgy. If you have bank accounts in Spain or Gibraltar, your royalties can be paid to either, I would put them in the account wherever your normal wages go, but if it's Spain, hacienda won't care if the quantity is small, England is a different matter but if you normally do an English tax return you can just declare your additional earnings that way. Sorry I don't know more. I need to find out more, for myself too. Good luck with the book!
Consider using this: http://www.irs.gov/uac/Form-W-8BEN,-C.... You will need to apply for a U.S. tax ID, but that should be no problem.Good luck!
