Looking For A Particular Book Set in A Matriarchal Society

Hi everyone. I'm looking for the name of a book. It's set in a matriarchal society where men are little more than slaves. Pregnancy lasts only three months and the women fight with specialized daggerlike weapons I think. The men don't usually pay their children much mind but the main male character in this novel spends alot of time with his son. That's all I can remember.
