I am about 1/3 into the book and am overwhelmed by the sheer number of POV characters! Would love a character list so I could keep track of who’s who. But I am so intrigued! Not much backstory has been filled in, so I am figuring things out as I go along.

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6 comments I'm on for this one. Had this book on my TBR since I don't remember when so I'll give it a try now.
Will start in a few days' time.

Janny (jannywurts) | 414 comments I totally loved this series, it has so much depth and scope. Don't be thrown by the number of characters in vol I - it all comes together magnificently as the series progresses.

One of my all time favorite reads, and I wish I was reading it again for the first time. There will be lots of stuff for discussion, and the way the magic unfolds is glorious.

Yes. I'm listening to it on audio at the moment and will be switching to hard copy soon. Hopefully I can catch the group up and join in the discussion as I'm not too far behind.

ScottOnTheFen (spiralguru3d) I'm 1/3rd of the way through this now, still on audio but with a hard-copy in the post. And actually there is the odd advantage of audio.. I got stuck in a traffic jam this morning and got to listen for 1hr 30m!

I am starting to enjoy this more. The battles are excellent. If I can just find some characters to care about I'll be really into it. I'm not saying the cast are not convincing, likeable, or otherwise - I just find there's nobody I'm looking forward to hearing from again as the story progresses, I'm just enjoying the battles and learning more about the world at the moment. A love story wouldn't go amiss either, but I think this might not be the series for that.. :)

Scott - wait for it. This series really gets impressive in every way the farther it goes.
