Shir Guez (shirguez) | 10 comments Hi everyone,

Please read the whole question before commenting. Thanks!

I sent my book to several book bloggers. Some of them told me they got the book and will let me know when they review it (they didn't give me a deadline).

My question is:
What is a fashionable time to send them a reminder?

Please don't tell me not to send a reminder since they said they will review it. Now, that's OK if they won't review it, but I need to know. In addition, some bloggers were happy to get a reminder from me in the past because they honestly forgot.

So...I'll be glad to hear your opinions.

Shir

I honestly don't like to be sent reminders. It feels pushy but if you feel like you must I think after a month (4 weeks) it's okay to reach out and see where they are with the reviewing process.

Shir Guez (shirguez) | 10 comments I don't like to send reminders either!

But when a reviewer/blogger doesn't give me a deadline (or deadline-ish or whatever) he/she left me in the dark.

Btw, a few bloggers gave me a deadline of 2 and a half months. That's totally fine because I know when they will post it. But when I have no idea at all I'm afraid the reviewer forgot about my book...

Shir Guez (shirguez) | 10 comments And I totally forgot - thanks for your answer!

I thought 4-6 weeks is reasonable for a reminder.

These Violent Delights (Robin) Yeah, I think around after a month you should send a reminder.

I review loads of books for authors/publishers/netgalley and with all that to remember, I some times forget about either reading the book altogether or just posting the review.

So in my opinion, I love reminders because they help me keep on track. Plus I hate abusing the author by agreeing to review and then not reviewing, it's shameful and dishonorable.

Emily (elp2012) I would read their review policy page and see if they have a time frame posted - if it is after their window then it would be acceptable to send a reminder or check in email. I would say the norm is about a month (4 weeks) from the date they accept or receive the book.
