thanks - I can't wait to finally complete badge 2!

3. Audiobook (HC= 272pg)

⭐⭐⭐⭐
interesting. I like the author's conversational style, and how he has a personal connection to experiences in water - he didn't just write about it, he lived it too! The book covered a lot more than just freediving, it was an ode to the underwater world!
Woohoo.. here it is, finally, my last book to complete badge 2 - doing the happy dance :)Badge 2, Book 18
1. Card 17, Geo Yay,
2. Link - The Brutal Telling
3. Audiobook (HC= 372pg)
4. Set in Canada or a Canadian author

5th book in the Inspector Gamache series, and I'm really enjoying - love the setting, the characters and the audio narration - comfort read :)
Badge 3, Book 211. Card 8 , ArtLit Yay

3. Audiobook (HC= 304pg)
4. A book between 300 and 350 pages
5. The first paper edition on the list is 304 pages (HC)
⭐⭐⭐
First in the series for me. I loved the use of setting with Salt flats/marshes in Northern England, it's integral part of the story. The plot had a few holes though.. I plan to read at least one or two more and see how it progresses.
Cherie wrote: "I have two of the Inspector Gamache books on my challenge too Anne."Awesome, Cherie. I'm going to read book #6 in the series for a task too :) (Card 8 Sport: Nay - The book is originally published in 2010).
Janice wrote: "Congrats on finishing the second badge, Anne! Woohoo."Thanks so much, Janice! This challenge is the one thing keeping me motivated to read at the moment!!!

4. A book originally published in 2010
5. The book was first published September 28th 2010
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Book 6 in the series.... my favorite so far! Alternating story lines past and present day. Gamache is reeling from a case gone terribly wrong, you find out in bits and pieces as the book progresses. And the crazy ol' Ruth is hilarious in this one!
Badge 3, Book 231. Card 8 , Geo Nay,
2. Link - Who Fears Death
3. Audiobook (HC= 386pg)
4. Book set in Africa or written by an African author.
5. The book is set in future, post-nuclear-holocaust Africa
⭐⭐⭐1/2
I enjoyed all the magical/fantasy elements. Story was engaging but felt a bit complex to follow on audio, I'm not sure if I grasped everything.. i might need to relisten a second time.
(14 books for badge 3; 9 books for badge 4)
Margo wrote: "Wow Anne, only 2 to go! Are you going to do badge 4?"well I wish I was that close, but I was reading out of order before I had figured out which cards would go towards badge 3... so I actually have 11 more books to read to get badge 3 (and then will have 9 books already read for badge 4).
I may work slowly at badge 4, but don't think I'll finish it all, as I want to read some books that don't meet tasks.. After badge 3 is done, I'll give myself permission to do more of that LOL!

Oh I'm in the same position Anne. I'm not looking forward to the sort out! I've just got badge 2 and I'm tempted to stick at that.
Janice wrote: "Margo, you already have 18 books read for badge 3. You're well on your way."I know, I'm just feeling a bit overwholmed. One of my goals for this year was to read some fantasies that I already own. The year is over half way through and my book pile is not shrinking fast enough. I think I'm having a mid year book crisis 🤣
Not a bit 🙀 Between medical appts, pain meds and trying to make sure the freezer is stocked, reality isn't a the best place place at the moment LOL. Oh, and praying that it won't be cancelled 🙏

My goal was badge 2 as well... but i try to fit what I read in there. I really plan when I have one book left for a card. I think I just may get badge 3 done at some point.
Margo wrote: "Not a bit 🙀 Between medical appts, pain meds and trying to make sure the freezer is stocked, reality isn't a the best place place at the moment LOL. Oh, and praying that it won't be cancelled 🙏"Oh Margo I do hope everything goes as planned for you! 🤞 Reality is definitely not the best place at all, right now!
Thanks Anne. Hopefully all will go as planned. I have to cocoon (self-isolate) for two weeks then have a test before being admitted for 3 days. It makes it feel like a feel like a much bigger procedure!

Badge 3, Book 251. Card 13, Geo Yay
2. Link - Burial Rites
3. Audiobook (HC = 336pg)
4. The book is set in Iceland, or written by an Icelandic author.

⭐⭐⭐⭐
Loved the haunting feel of this story! It pulls you in as you know up front that the MC Agnes has been charged with murder and awaiting execution, so you of course want to know what happened/how she ended up in that situation. The author weaves the story slowly around some fascinating character portrayals, and felt very realistic for the time period 1829. The audio narration was excellent!.
