I can't think of any reason why we would want to merge a Russian profile into an English profile though, unless the author is not Russian and has never had a book translated into Russian."

I meant it more as a general question, because sometimes (duplicate) profiles do need to be merged. And if GR policy had dictated that the English profile of this author needed to be merged into the Russian one - because he has not had his work translated (into English) - , what would happen with the followers?

Since in the GR author profiles thread I always see remarks like "has followers" or "has quotes", I thought that some special action was needed to merge profiles with followers and/or quotes. But apparently not, which is good to know! :)

To the contrary; those comments are there to explain why the profiles should be merged. Blank profiles don't need merging -- the cleanup script gets them.

Ah, I didn't know they were all blank profiles (apart from the followers/quotes). Thanks for explaining :)

Galateea | 4 comments i haz tiny question. i know the rules and i almost downright have the theory memorized but at times i still hit a brick wall when it comes to some of the more, well particularly mind twisting loopholes. so, my potato question is (bear with me here, please :D) what is the exact procedure in case of these two author profiles: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
Because no ammount of thinking and recalling and rechecking could shed light on poor brain and i've been agonizing over this for the past hour because my OCD was fully engaged but at the same time, i did not want to make some noob mistake. so, anyone? help a poor soul over here. i give cookies as offerings.

مروان العقــّــــــــاد (akkadian) | 2 comments I hope that Goodreads could make an option to write the name of the author in different languages by default because this is causing chaos in books translated to Arabic

When adding a new book you can input multiple author names with the name in English listed first. Automatic imports are not necessarily going to add author names in multiple languages.

If you would like Goodreads to see your thoughts you should post in the new Goodreads Help. We do not have anything to do with site functionality in this group. Also please do not revive threads that are years old.
