Entertainment: Yay Task - Read a book that was made into a tv show, tv series, or tv movie.

If a series has been made into a TV show, but they aren't up to that book yet in the TV show but it's being made, would that work?

Eg: The Amber Spyglass is book 3 of His Dark Materials. Books 1 and a bit of 2 are in season 1, there is at least a season 2, which will probably start crossing into book 3 but it's not out until late this year -

Janice (jamasc) | 60233 comments As long as the series has started, you're good.

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19228 comments Awesome! Thanks Janice.

I thought that would be the easiest for you to track (as who has time for that?) but always good to double check!

Roz | 4561 comments Hi Janice,

Can The Return by Rachel Harrison be used for Yay History (purple cover)? Is it enough?

message 55: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60233 comments I used tineye, and it is apparently 44.7% magenta. The rest is either black or pink. So I guess the answer is no.

message 56: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 1824 comments Ok, for street on the cover:

A Quiet Roar Sometimes Disruption Is Overdue by Randall Arthur Is the street clear enough to count?

Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng Does suburban count as urban?

Thanks!

Yes to both of them.

Roz | 4561 comments Hi Janice. When you put 20th Victim (Women's Murder Club, #20) by James Patterson into tineye, does it read red? Can I use it for History Yay 75% red cover please? It's the last in the Women's Murder Club and would be a series kill for me.

Jenn | 3037 comments For Science - Nay - Musical instrument on the cover - Would the reed flute Menolly is playing be prominent enough, or were you looking for more of a stand alone instrument? Dragonsong
Dragonsong (Pern Harper Hall, #1) by Anne McCaffrey

I'm going to say no to this one. It's not prominent enough because it gets lost in the busyness of the cover. I had to really look to see it.

Jenn | 3037 comments I was wondering lol It definitely has a psychedelic 70’s feel to it

Janice (jamasc) | 60233 comments I have the first book to the Pern Series, Dragonflight. I would like to get to that series soon, but it never seems to rise to the top of the pile.

message 66: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 3037 comments I read a bunch of that series many years ago, and love her writing ❤️ full of strong capable women, without going too far

message 67: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Jenn,
I agree about the women characters, but I loved the dragons and even more, the history of the world and the early settlers that was rolled out in the later stories. I was fascinated for years, waiting for the next books to be published. I totally was in love the Master Bard too. McCaffrey's stories were works of love. I cannot think of one that I did not like. I can still remember reading The White Dragon, which was the first published book. I think my copy fell apart, I read it so many times.

I couldn't agree more Cherie :) Her writing is so all encompassing that you can actually forget that you are reading fiction and get completely immersed in her world - Love, love, love :) Definitely one of the greats for me!

You guys convinced me! These books are now on my TBR! I think I am like 50/50 split on fantasy and lit fic as my favorite genres

I think I know the answer, but I so want this book to do double duty for a challenge in my nonfiction nerds group lol

For you, I hope so, Jenn.

If I had not already finished that task, I might have been tempted by your book too.
