"In the case of graphic novels or books consisting of a lot of pictures, the text must be equivalent to that of a 175-page book."
How do I know that ?

Honestly? I don't know. One group bases it on the number of words, but I don't know how they make that determination. It could be that you'd need to read the book and make a best guess.
I'd say that if you want to read a graphic novel, do it for the March monthly challenge and not for the annual trivia challenge.

I did, and I found alot of interesting graphic novels I want to read, I thought it'd be a waste not to add them in haha. but I guess i'll stick to my other books for the yearly challenge.

I'll read my first graphic novel for the monthly challenge and maybe that will give me a better understanding of the format.

What book is it, and what task are you reading it for?

Since the edition isn't going to matter for the challenge, go with the paperback edition. Maybe put in a request to the librarians group that the audiobook be added.

Thank you, Janice.

Wow. Thank you, Kristie. The mods here on YLTO! are the best!

You're welcome! lol It was no trouble.

I'm afraid that if we start identifying badge 4 books, it will open the door to a lot of swapping. You might identify that you want to read cards 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 for badge 3 and report badge 4 for everything else only to discover that something like a toppler has you finishing card 10 before card 5. Then you're swapping books around. I think it's easier to do one adjustment once you finish badge 3.
Same applies to badge 4. Apply everything to badge 4 and the leftovers get transferred to badge 5.
My spreadsheet should make the adjustments fairly easy and I can let people know what I've transferred to the next badge.

This has been so helpful. I am 19 books into badge 3/4 and definitely am all over the place about what will be the next read. As I start to get close to finishing cards, I try to stay focused, but with a kindle, and audio and paper all going at once, I tend to stray a bit, especially if I don't want to gopher for something tricky.

I really thought I could just work my way down the cards and finish a first book for each card and apply for Badge 1 and 2, and then, based on my "planned" choices, figure out the five cards I would finish for Badge 3. Unfortunately, group reads, buddy reads, and serendipity audiobooks that just happen to match a task have me bouncing all over too.

I've been working out where books will fit, keeping note if they land on a card that I've already used for badge 1 and 2, and then saving them for when I can use them for badge 3.
I thought it would be easier for both you and us .... rather than all the swapping?

Please post when you finish reading a book and code them all to badge 3 (if not coding badge 1 or 2). Seriously, it's much easier to change a 3 to a 4 than to track 10 books at one time. Excel's "find and replace" feature is slick.

I wouldn't have posted them all at the same time, but no worries I'll start posting books

(just to confirm) this is okay right?

Yes, it works.

I found a paperback edition in Amazon: 207 pages.
I couldn't find a hardcover edition.

I don't know what that is! You could use it for the stars on cover task, but I don't think you can call it a nebula or asteroid. Sorry.

Yes, it counts.

(Ok, so I just REALLY want to find a task for this book now that I've read it!)
xox,
disgruntled, but not on fire, thankfully!
(kidding)

Hey Anne - I read this for Card 8 - Art/Lit Yay - The edition you read has 300-350 pages.

Oooh, I do have that task... but I listened on audio, and the first paper edition on the list is only 254 pages... so I can't use it for this sniff.. sniff..
The audio version was really good though!!! Marin Ireland, who narrated Backman's Beartown and Us About You books.
