No, the first three based on age are probably considered classic and the fourth (Group Read) is classic based on the groups definition.

Everything else is up to you.

Janet (goodreadscomjanetj) | 341 comments Is there any requirement on the length of books? If a short story fits the category does that count?

No page limit, if it fits the category and you like it, that's all that is important.

Oh my this really made me laugh!! Great use of the word "egads"! 121 books would be quite challenging.

Brina I read that anyway but not for one challenge. It is very enticing though.

The challenge says, list and read 12 books for each of the following categories. Personally I think it is helpful to make a list, it can be changed as the year progresses. It is also informational to the group to see the list. You never know when something on your list will trigger another member to also want to read it. But it is ultimately your challenge, do what you feel is best and is most comfortable for you.

Samanta (almacubana) | 372 comments Ok, tnx! :) Good to know it can be changed because, if I understood correctly (bear with me since it's my first time doing these challenges), the Old & New challenge cannot be changed.

It is the only challenge we have that shouldn't be changed. That's why it has two alternates. It functions as a little push to gently force us to reduce our ever growing TBR list and read a few from the groups bookshelf. All of our other challenges can be altered as the year progresses.

Nicely put! :D :D

I'm using the challenges to clean up my home library.

Newly Wardell | 172 comments if any one wants to make this a team effort. I can do science fiction, romance, mystery. but as a group I think we should separate horror and humor and crime and mystery. I also want to do current past group reads.

so for me it's a 6 month 48 book challenge
12 group reads past or current
12 mystery
12 science fiction can I do sci-fi/ fantasy?
12 romance
