How goes my trivia test answers?
30 cards with 6 tasks each = 180 questions

I have 62 Yay answers and 118 Nay answers (2 cards with all Nay answers = 6 & 23).
I cannot believe I answered the Geography question on card 6 wrong!
Of the Nay answers, 60 were "no idea" and 58 were wrong guesses.

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Thursday Next just fell off of Card 7, Nay for Art/Literature. She is being replaced by Irene Adler. Jasper Fforde has not written book 8 yet but Carole Nelson Douglas has really published 8 for Irene. Whew!

Suzanne | 1255 comments I enjoyed reading your challenge possibilities, Cherie! Books on your list that I've read and loved: The Sparrow, Tender at the Bone: Growing Up at the Table and The Story of Beautiful Girl. In fact, Mary Doria Russell is a favorite author of mine. I was excited to find out that her new book, The Women of the Copper Country, is set in Michigan, fitting one of my task requirements!

message 13: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I did not get the "set in Michigan" task, Suzanne. Was that the Great Lakes question? I got it wrong.

I enjoy Russell's writing style too. I am going to read Epitaph to finish the Doc account for one of my tasks (Card 14 Nay for Art/Literature. I may read The Sparrow too, but it depends on the availability and if I ever get to that task.

Hey Cherie, I have it slotted for Card 2 History Nay. Set between 1900-1920. I'm not certain it does fit there since I haven't read it yet, just going off the blurb that says early 1900's.

It likely fits there, Vicki. I'm about 40% and it's still in the time frame. You only need 50% and I'm thinking it will be well over that.

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Meanie at work! I just saw your response in Roz's thread. :o)

The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern - hopefully that one fits "key on the cover".

I did not get Card 3, Art/Lit, Nay so I have to read a Wizard book. I can't use the flowers. It is longer than 350 pages. If it stays between 1900 and 1920, I might be able to use it for Card 2, History, Nay. I can move my planned book for that task to Italy.

Thanks, Vicki. We will just have read and see. My heart is not broken. I did not know about the keys until I got my library book. They are very shiny on the black back ground on the physical cover, but I understand that they are not as prominent on the digital cover with the flowers. I bow to Janice.

The book is the first of a five book series for Middle Grade readers. I hope my library has more of the audiobooks. I loved the music. The narrator did a terrific job speaking the Ojibwa words and telling the story. It is not just a sugar coated story. There is loss and hardship and small pox to contend with, but there is also humor and love that shines through it all.

This is the 2nd book in the Barker & Llewelyn series. I enjoyed the narration by Anthony Ferguson. I cannot tell if his Scottish, Welsh, or Irish accents are authentic or not, but it is fun to listen to him.

This seems to be a popular book for this task! And good to see all the high ratings too. I'm going to jump on the same band wagon and use this book too!

Looks like you've been enjoying all your reads, good choosing, Cherie!!!

It was the only task I could use for it, Anne. I did not have the flowers on the cover task.

Yes, I am enjoying my reads, so far.

My grandma always told me that if I could not say anything nice, to not say anything at all. It is not exactly what she used to say, but close enough. I can keep my mouth shut, something the MC in this story could not seem to do. Opps, did I say that?

😂 LOL the MC didn't grow on me either, nor did the story...

Eight days is pretty good, Cherie, considering there are so many GR distractions! 😀

Janice - This was a great audiobook listen, and I appreciate you recommending it to me. Did you get to see Alex in a movie at the film festival this year?

Nothing to write home about. The story is fading, even as I write. The story summary touches on the subject matter, but it was the choices that the "2nd" family members made that were interesting enough to listen to.

I had started listening to this book twice before I finally made it through from start to finish. None of the characters were appealing and the music/singing in the narration really annoyed me. Ultimately, I only made though because I did not want to see it in my library wish list any more.

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Interesting that all three of the audiobooks that I listened to over the weekend were for Entertainment. I had no idea what categories they were for until I updated my spreadsheet this morning. Except for Alex, I wasn't really entertained at all.

It might have been different if I had read it, Roz.
This author is hit or miss with me. I gave Room three stars and The Wonder five stars. It is the only reason I kept coming back to it, besides - I loved the title. I did not feel well Sunday and Monday, and kept falling asleep and having to go back and figure out where I last remembered listening. It is one of those stories where "something happened" and you just want to know "why and who". The rest was bla, bla, bla. The whole story takes place over three days, but there are two time lines, a few months apart and it was hard to figure out, in the audiobook, when they switched, until you listened for a few minutes. There was supposed to be a downloadable .pdf file too, but I haven't figured that out with library audiobooks. The frog part is non-existent, except by who catches them, and how they are eaten. 0.o

Let's see - you needed a 4-letter word, and you found a 5-letter word. I don't think it counts. Can you slot this book into another task?

They didn't show any of Alex's films this year or last year. He appeared as a cameo in a film each year though. We told the organizer that we need one of his films next year. LOL!
