I edit and copy the reporting format in my reporting message (message 10) and paste it into the new message for posting the book and I always have it all there. Then I enter the card number and delete what I don’t need. The rest, I copy and paste from my spreadsheet, update the book link and add my comments and I’m done. The postings stay consistent. I tried to make it easy for you to track my postings. If you don’t like it, I can separate them.

No that's fine.

And so it does! I probably abbreviated the task a little too much on the tracker. Sorry for the confusion.

It was not that bad, Lucy. You may like it."
I'm not a huge fan of the Zombie genre to begin with, so really, I'm usually looking for a reason not to read any of them. lol ;) It does seem to have generally high reviews though.

What I don't like about the zombie stories is the gruesome killing. I know they have to kill them, but it seems like we always have to hear about the blood and gore. The ones in Dread Nation were typical. Killing them I get, but what they did with the ones in the big cage was pretty creative, I guess.

5. I listened to an Audiobook. The hc is 335 pages.
6. Task Requirement: The book is in any series with 12 or more primary works.
7. State how the book fits the criteria: It is #9 in the Maisie Dobbs series, which currently has 15 primary works.
8. Specifications: none.
Set in 1933, London. I could listen to the narrator, Orhla Cassidy, forever. A new turning point in the series. I think Maisie is going to be traveling in the next story. Winston Churchill was seen in the story twice.
The book has a horse on the cover.

I did read PP&Z because I like parody and satire, I liked it, but didn't love it (but it was good satire, for sure.) We went to see the movie in the theater and I fell asleep. -_-
I don't have a problem with gore, but I can see that, especially with zombies. I generally like horror, but I always feel like its the same every time with zombies. I have Dread Nation penciled in for my zombie task, but it's not going to be until badge 4 or 5, and I probably won't get that far, but we'll see.

I really enjoyed the Newsflesh series by Mira Grant starting with Feed. This book is a bit different from your usual zombie fare.

Nothing better than Neil Gaiman reading his short stories to me.
I will read

I found it more intrigue than horror. I think because zombies are in it, people right away tag it as horror. I checked my review and I didn't shelve it as such. I shelved it as dystopia.
But then, I usually don't shelve as horror unless it's hard core. Not much scares me any more.

I'll give it a look, Janice, thanks for the rec.
Cherie: I think Neil Gaiman is my favorite narrator, hands down. I wish he'd narrate other writer's stories, too. LOL Only one more to go!

One of the January Group Read books. I enjoyed it and the alternate history.

Roz - no, I doubt I can get them all but I will post until the time runs out. 2 is definitely doable. 3 too, I am pretty sure. 180 is out of my reading range in a year, especially with the monthly challenges and other just because titles that crop up. I’m going on a road trip with my sisters in May/June too.

5. I listened to an audiobook from my library. The hc is 402 pages.
6. Task Requirement: Theme is family saga.
7. State how the book fits the criteria: The book is a story of the people that founded the town of Elmwood Springs, Missouri, lived there, died and were buried in the cemetery on the hill. It covers multiple generations of the town's folks from the late 1880s all the way up to 2021, with a special twist at the end.
8. Specifications: none.
I originally picked this book for the street scene on the cover. I am so glad I did because it turned out to be a treasured read I would not want to have missed. Kimberly Farr, the narrator, brought so much life to the generations of people mentioned in the story. It was a wonderful performance! I probably would not have listened, if it were not for the challenge. It is not Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe, but the same Fannie Flagg humor, heartbreak, wonder and amazing imagination!

4. Captain Blood Returns
★★★★
5. I read a hard cover book from my library, 296 pages.
6. Task Requirement: A main character is a pirate
7. State how the book fits the criteria: Peter Blood became a pirate after he and a few of his friends, all former slaves, captured a Spanish galleon that had been left unguarded in the harbor when the Spanish captain and his crew were sacking Bridgetown, Barbados in 1685. He was a very honorable man and his men were very devoted to him, and he to them.
8. Specifications: none.
The book was a series of ten short stories, that were the follow on to the original book, Captain Blood. I really like the language of Rafael Sabatini and his characters. I would like to locate a copy of the third book of Captain Blood, listed as The Fortunes of Captain Blood.

My library lists it's characteristics as xxvii, 160, [4], 22cm
If these are added together it equals 192 pages, which is what I originally wrote down on my spread sheet for the hc - before I ordered and received the book from my library. There are several Penguin editions listed as 187 pages, which I would be happy to use. What say you - can I add the introduction pages by Michael Gorra to the 160p story? Note: I did not read the Introduction yet. The last two times I did that, the story was totally destroyed for me because it gave everything away.
I will understand if you say no to this strange situation and eventually go back to my first planned book of North and South at 544p, for the task.

I will live, but it makes me wonder why GR is not counting the 27 pages of Introduction and stuff in the book along with the story that is in the volume. Is it only because there are only 160 pages of the actual story that the author wrote?
It does not seem to be consistent for classics. I read two other books last year, that were just the opposite.

@ Jayme - it is a fiction story, but a classic.
