I'll have to ask Craig some of them too, but not until I've decided on a yay or nay for me. He's usually good at this sort of thing.

So... I peeked at my example answer. lol It was driving me crazy! I had the animal correct and as soon as I saw the name I knew it. I immediately thought oh yes! Oh well. Maybe I'll have to think on the others more before deciding that I don't know the answer.

It works to wait a bit Kristie. I went through all the questions on the train but then on the way home and now on the couch new answers pop into my head when I'm not consciously thinking about them.

Hey, I got an answer right because of a non-fiction book I read for this year's year-long challenge!!!

Wow I wish I could say I know a lot about nothing, but I know nothing about nothing. I can't wait to see what comes next.

Yes, Peggy. I think I need to give the answers time to work themselves to the front of my brain again.

I've had my first whizz through and answered the ones I thought I knew the answers too. And left the rest for now. Some of them I know I definitely don't know the answer to. But maybe I can pick up a few unexpected yays as my brain mulls things over. There are a few that I'm kicking myself over. I know I know the answer and like you Kristie, if I saw the answer, I'd go "Oh yeah!", but it's just not coming to mind at the moment. This is trixy Janice! I like it.

I checked about 6 cards I completed so far. I have more yay's than I expected! I made a few lucky guesses and it really helped to give the questions that I knew I should know the answer to some time. Rob had some answers correct that I didn't get right (and the other way around) but I only used my own of course :)

I tried drinking, it only helps the anxiety not your quality of answers in case anyone was wondering. After a few drinks you don’t care how many “nays” you have.

I’m disappointed how come the questions were not something more practical like the best weapon to kill a person or what drink has a women’s name in the title?

I have a lot more Nay answers than Yay answers too. It's funny the things you can answer correctly.

I'm not trying to set a standard, but I thought it would be fitting that I post the questions today. That way, you'll have till the weekend to answer them. I'll post the tasks either Saturday or Sunday. I'm still working on the overall challenge - how it will work, what the rules are etc.
Janice, this has to be one of the best challenges I’ve seen on Goodreads. And we haven’t even seen the tasks yet! Working my way through the trivia questions.

I have to tell you that I was reading some of the questions to my employee at lunch time and I had "Yay" for one which surprised me. How did I manage to get that question right? All I can think is that I must have had a lucky guess.
Peggy wrote: "I like that you give some additional explanation in the answers Janice!"
Peggy wrote: "I like that you give some additional explanation in the answers Janice!"I copied them right off the card. :) That extra explanation helped in coming up with the task.
If your brains haven't gone into overload, the yay tasks are based on the correct answer and the nay tasks are based on the initial questions. Maybe you can predict what those tasks might be.

I thought maybe you and Dominique might put your heads together if you planned on doing the challenge together like you did with the movie mania. I couldn't suggest it to you without giving it away.

Jannene wrote: "Janice, I don’t know how you come up with all of this stuff. Very inventive."Things sometimes hit me like a thunderbolt. I kept seeing the word "trivia" whenever I'd track someone's book. Then it was "hmmm... Trivial Pursuit was a fun game." Next thing, I'm running out to the store to buy the game. I couldn't see the copyright sign anywhere on the packaging, so spent many nights poring over the cards, picking questions, thinking of possible tasks, driving people crazy making them answer the questions. My poor employee - lunch break was pure hell for her at times.

I only had 18/60 Sandra and Kristie.
I only had 18/60 Sandra and Kristie. I finished all of the questions and my statistics are in the first message in my thread.
There was a couple that I got half right but I counted them as Nay. A few that I got wrong, I am still shaking my head at. It was fun, but I am going home now and finish my current book.
Oh wow!! I was looking for something to procrastinate with this afternoon, and boy Janice you have delivered!
Oh wow!! I was looking for something to procrastinate with this afternoon, and boy Janice you have delivered!I'm thinking 15mins of minute writing, and then a card will get me through the arvo.
Ah, a hint about the tasks! I suppose I could think of something, but knowing you it can go a hundred different ways so I'll just wait ;-).

So I thought I had a brilliant plan earlier, but it was the most frustrating experience ever. LOL! Well done Janice! You made writing sub-committee minutes look like a reward!! :PI'm usually pretty good at trivia, but the list of things I am not good at include:
US Geography
US History
US TV shows
US Sport (who on earth compares a dead animal to a name I've never heard of before?)
US Food
Makes me miss the Australian edition of Trivial Pursuit.
Oh and I nearly answered the Dancing with the Stars question, and then realised you probably meant the US version, not the Australian one.
Thanks for making my afternoon at work more productive. And I'm sure there are more answers I know if I sleep on it. I have to know more...

We were being true to the intent of the test. Plus, I found out she “really sucks” at geography and history. I failed geography in 6th grade and hated history because eventually it will repeat itself and you can learn it then! So, we were stuck or sunk... I figure we will have a lot of “nays” to work on together.

Um as someone from the US we didn’t really get that much of a leg up, I swear. Unless my tippling aided and abetted my failure.

Yeah... I'm not doing well either. I think you're right and we will all have a lot of nays to work with.

Cue in audiobook and speed pushed to 2.5 with a lot of adult beverages. It makes everything more interesting. ;)~~~
