You're welcome, Jaya. I've read a part before and you get immediately into the story.

It's intriguing, looking fwd to the unique writing style I've heard so much about.

Almost 100 pages in. I have to admit I'm not that enamored of it so far. Rothfuss has got a decent writing style, but Kvothe is annoying me because he's so stupidly powerful. I like characters that have to struggle. But this is arguably all background. Hopefully it'll grow horns and drag me in very shortly!
I'm somewhere in chapter 4. I'm reading the Dutch version, so I don't know if the chapters are lining up. I've started this one last year and I flew throught the 166 pages and then I've stopped. I had to take the book back to the library and never continued untill now. Now, it takes me a bit to get into it. I miss the feeling that I had the first time and also my memory runs far ahead of what I remember of it.(view spoiler)

Ow, I had the feeling that it was an old spirit in a young body. Right now, I think he's just so full of himself.
I suppose it's entirely possible that Kvothe is older than 25 - we'll find out later! Chapter 16(view spoiler)
Chapter 20 onward (view spoiler)

@Saar: I'm just flying through this book at the moment because I have time; I'll be here to chat about it in the future!Chapter 37 onwards: (view spoiler)
I wonder how many of our questions about Kvothe's life are going to be answered in this book. I suspect it'll end (view spoiler) Still a long way to go!
I'm 175 pgs in now, enjoying the book so far it's not knockingmy socks off but it is interesting. I suspect it's going to pick up as Kvothe gets older and more ambitious.

I feel the same, I am in chapter 12 at the moment and (view spoiler)
I'm at chapter 11, but I don't know if the translation match the original chapters. It's well written and once you started, you fly through the pages. (view spoiler)
I'm on ch 40, pg 287 now. I like the Kvothe so far, I think all his actions are reasonable given his circumstances. I like the magic system in this story, the use of science.
It's striking on how Rothfuss describes the 4 doors of dealing with pain. In real life it's almost the same.
I liked Ben's always singed off eyebrows! That description did make me smile - the dangers of alchemy! I think the trap (view spoiler)I've finished it and didn't like it as much as I'd hoped I would. I didn't like Kvothe's being so good at everything (I really dislike over-powered characters) and Rothfuss' prose was a bit overblown in places. Together, those things overwhelmed any of the good things I found in this book. But I like to read your comments, Saar; I always appreciate it when people like books I don't - they can show me what I missed!
Ah, now I understand the 'trap'! I didn't thought that far, because I've linked it on what happened a bit later. Well, I join your thought on being over - powered. It's a bit too much. Rothfuss' writing is realy okay, but he overdoes it sometimes and that's a bit annoying.
I'm now at the chapter where (view spoiler)
I'm now at 200 pages, so that's over the page where I stopped before and I liked it really the first time, but now a bit less. I do enjoy the breaks between Kvothe's story and the real life. It's a bit of a pause.
ok don't laugh but I just read 2 chapters planning on 20 till night wish me luck, btw its goooood...
Hi Peggy,No sweat! Take your time. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at
how fast the pages fly by, I went past my bus stop by 10 minutes after work last week reading it!
I'm 545pgs in, it's really quite good. The magic is unique. I suppose this means I'm commited to the second book.

I hope everyone's enjoying the story, I'm only about 80 pages from the end now and I am really enjoying it. I bought The Wise Man's fear today, is anyone planning on continuing right into the next book?
I finished my exams and I am making progress with the book. Im on chapter 70 now, planning to read the second one after this one.
Troy wrote: "I hope everyone's enjoying the story, I'm only about 80 pages from the end now and I am really enjoying it. I bought The Wise Man's fear today, is anyone planning on continuing right into the next ..."The next book is planned on 1st Febr. So, I think most of us will continue.
I'm almost halfway the book, but I'm able to finish in time.
I still have one exam but it is not gonna stop me from reading the book!Im have way throw it finished chapter 50 and already cried my eyes out twice.
And I love bast even though he does not have much of a Character yet, hope that will change...
I worked all the day and just got home its 11 pm gonna read as much as possible before falling sleep I'm at chapter 67 and I'm desperate to finish it!!!But this book will be one of those that u feel sad when its finished and u have nothing more of that world...
There's allways the second book and hopefully, one day, the third. I have the late shift at work and it's quiet, so I can read untill 10:45 pm and then I'll go home.
George wrote: "Chapter 46, I thought this moment deserved a mention. [spoilers removed]"I'm now at that point too. (view spoiler)
Hello everyone,I finished yesterday evening. I'm really surprised I like this book as much as I do! By many fantasy fans measure this would be a slow
book, no big battles, not a single swordfight even. However, the
music - fascinating! The University - fascinating! The Science -
fascinating! Ambrose... ugh. I felt like I was there, sitting
in the Eolian listening to Kvothe play! Who wants to give Auri a
big hug? She breaks my heart.😭 lets go booķ two!
I'm 85% through and I think that its not Slow but different where its supposed to be high and exiting we are not dealing with a knight or a big fighter yet we have a big genius nerd, with a tough background, I'm still hoping for more bast!!! he seems like a good part of kvothe's story...
