I need some Christmas book ideas. We all get books as part of our Christmas Eve gift. My family loves canoeing, camping, backpacking and snowboarding. I am looking for non-fiction books about outdoor adventures. Any suggestions. I just finished Beyond the Trees by Adam Shoalts.

Classics in natural history are those by Thoreau, my favorite being *The Maine Woods*. Good stories about hiking (my pastime outdoors) are *Not Without Peril* and *The Last Season*. Hope this helps.
I just finished and really enjoyed Sigurd Olson’s The Singing Wilderness. He lived in the boundary waters and wrote about winter, canoeing, fly fishing, growing up in rural Minnesota. Lovely book.
Thank you. I will look at this one. Did you read Breath of Wilderness by Kristin Eggerling? It is about Sigurd's life.
It's not really an adventure book, but Richard Louv's new book Our Wild Calling about the human/animal connection is quite good and filled with small stories of awe in meeting animals in their natural habitat and how they change us as people.
