I agree, Joanne, but I liked the way Harry was able to use that letter to his advantage with Uncle Vernon. I sure hope he has a good summer.
I finished this one. There was so much there to absorb. I know we are just scratching the surface of all that was going on with Harry's parents, but I mean it is so much for one kid to bear, isn't it.I really liked the thing with the Patronus and the connection to his parents.
And Snape is just not endearing himself to me at all. It just seems as though he's getting worse with each book!
I 've started and am enjoying being immersed in the Harry Potter world again!chapter 1 & 2

They really are. You can really see the progression in this one. It's where the series takes its turn.

I am loving this book. I just finished reading the Quidditch match between Ravenclaw and Gryffindor"...and look at that Firebolt go! Potter's really putting it through its paces now, see it turn - Chang's Comet is just no match for it, the Firebolt's precision-balance is really noticeable in these long-"
"JORDAN! ARE YOU BEING PAID TO ADVERTISE FIREBOLTS? GET ON WITH THE COMMENTARY!"
Love it!

says a lot about how prejudice and really affect people

I agree. I think he was fine with Marge (view spoiler)
So I finished this bed early this morning before I fell asleep. I love how Hermione develops in this story, and I was so glad that Harry got his godfather back. I loved his parting lines with Uncle Vernon when he got back from Hogwarts!!

Lee Jordan and his Quidditch comments are always a favorite!
Started this one this morning. Doing Jim Dale on audio. I had forgotten how scared everyone seemed about (view spoiler)
Laura wrote: "Chapter 9Why are kids playing a game of quidditch in a storm? Couldn't they postpone it?"
Ha right! Not how us muggles would do it! Although I can remember one soccer match when my daughter was young where it was so freaking cold all the parents watched from their cars. Lol!
i feel like so many problems in this series could be solved just by postponing things for bad weather or like ...setting up incredibly rudimentary safety guidelines lol sometimes it seems like wizards gain magic but lose their common sense gene
Devann wrote: "i feel like so many problems in this series could be solved just by postponing things for bad weather or like ...setting up incredibly rudimentary safety guidelines lol sometimes it seems like wiza..."The trio ( Harry, Ron & Hermonie) sure did break A LOT of rules!!
I've given up on my library and have just got a KU trial so can catch up with the rereads of these! Hopefully someone else will be around!
As someone said right at the start of this thread, I'm always slightly surprised that the Dursleys take Harry back for the holidays (I know it's covered later in the series, but still...)

I come to understand them just slightly by the end of the series, but it's surprising that they take him in every summer.

I enjoyed hearing the explanation of it. It makes sense but I too never understood why they did it until Dumbledore explained the whole thing.
Having read chapter 2, I agree with the comments a few pages back. As far as I remember the only characters that are described by their weight are the Dursleys. It's a bit of a lazy trope to use.
Though Marge totally deserved it!

Chapter 5 - lots of thoughts on this one!
Professor Lupin's first moments are great. Love the comment that Madame Pomfrey makes about finally having a DADA teacher who knows their stuff.
Snape's reaction at the feast makes so much more sense on a reread.
The trip to the castle and the fact Harry can't see what is pulling the carriages. (view spoiler)

Loved this re-read. I appreciated it so much more on audio. <3 Dumbledore is so awesome. In the hospital wing...

So many overhead conversations make much more sense now! Snape and Dumbledore during the search of the castle for Sirius in chapter 9 being the latest example I've come across.

I agree! Had forgotten what a great teacher Lupin is. He seems to be treading the line with Harry v carefully as well

He does it well! Gentle prompts so she thinks of the solution.

Oh I totally agree. Marge definitely got what she deserved!

I always loved Professor Lupin. He always seemed so fatherly to me and I always hoped he would help Harry by being a father figure for him. Such a kind man! He has the opportunity to make another person feel awful (like Snape does often) when they do something wrong or imperfect but he never does. Insteas he teaches and helps people when they need it. I see him as a foil character to Snape.
