Molly | 6 comments Wonderstruck is a beautiful story about two deaf kids who both want something in their lives. Ben's story, told in words, takes place in Minnesota in 1977. Rose's story, told in pictures, takes place in New Jersey in 1927. Both are trying to find their parents, so they take a journey to New York, at the same time, but 50 years apart. But being out in the big city all by yourself, is very dangerous and hard, especially when your a deaf child. On their journeys, a lot happens, ups and downs. But the as the story slowly unravels, the ending is amazingly shocking.

The book kept me at the edge of my seat, always wanting more whenever we would have to stop in class. The story is just amazing and how the author would switch off between each story is the best part. I had to switch off to the other story quickly and try to keep up with what's happening, which was what I found hard but it got easier as we went on. In the story, Selznick adds a lot of details and figurative language, so that added a lot more depth to every sentence I read. It's a great book in general, so you should just read it.
