Yeah I would recommend it! It's a bit difficult to read in terms of topics but is definitely worth it

Thank you! I agree I really liked how he did this in his writing, and varied what he talked about each time. That way you never get bored and you constantly pay attention and it just makes you think about the book on a deeper level.
A Child Called It Book Review
The main character in this book is a young boy named David Pelzer, who starts out with a normal childhood home. But throughout his childhood, his mother becomes increasingly abusive and nasty towards him, while leaving his other siblings untouched. This book is the story of how he manages to survive at home while dealing with his mother. He is put through many things at home, such as starvation, verbal abuse, physical abuse, isolation, and affection being withheld from him by his mother. He also doesn’t know how to cope with it, because he can’t do anything to improve his situation. The book starts off describing his life as a child in his home. Everything was happy and he had great memories. But all of a sudden he would get in trouble for doing things with his brothers, while they got off scot-free. He began to be targeted and his punishments would get worse and worse because he didn’t ‘improve.’ This becomes hard for him as he struggles just to survive in his house as his mother dreams up things that no kid should have to be put through.
The book was very readable, especially how he wrote it from his first-person perspective. It was a very fast read and I finished it in under a day. It doesn’t have very complicated words, but it is more challenging to read because of the content in it. It wasn’t exactly a book that was enjoyable because it focused on difficult topics, but it was an important book to read to help me understand what some people are put through.
