Feature Request - Author Notifications

Personally I do not want authors looking over my shoulder like that.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by looking over your shoulder. I was after something where if somebody posted a review or a comment on my work (good or bad I guess), then I would receive notifications that would stay in one place, so I could find them quickly and easily, and respond to them just as quickly.
It would just be a lot more straightforward to work with than scrolling through many pages of my feed to find responses specific to me - although I would mostly still do that to a degree, just to keep tabs on what other friends are saying and reviewing.
But maybe you've highlighted a concern that I hadn't considered.
Thanks for your feedback. :o)

+1!
Reviews (and ratings) are not written for the benefit of the author.
I (not an author, but a reader) get notifications of comments and likes, they are not lost in my feed.

For general comments on Goodreads and for requests for changes to site functionality, try Goodreads Help or use the Contact Us link instead. (links at the top of this group)
There is an Authors section in the new Help area if you want to discuss this with other members of GR.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think I only get feedback in my feed from people I am friends with - I was after feedback from non-friends as well, a catchall if you will.
Either way I have posed the question elsewhere.
Thanks very much for your feedback and advice Scott and Carol :o)
Goodreads Librarians are not employees of Goodreads, but volunteers. They cannot assist you with issues of site functionality. Please either check out the new Goodreads Help (with its FAQ), or you may wish to use the Contact Us page. Closing thread.

It would be a feature that works separately to standard Notifications, that would list any time a GR member made a Review, Rating, Comment or Like of you (the author) or one of your books or posts.
It would be a feature any author could opt in/out of at any time. And via a small settings menu the author would be able to use a list to tick or untick whether they want to receive notifications of each of the four aspects (listed above), if they didn’t want to receive ‘all’ types of notification.
This would hugely benefit newbie authors, and those struggling to build their presence, that have limited time to search through their books to see if anyone (especially non-friends) have commented, liked etc, on their work.
I am requesting this because I am genuinely gutted if I’ve missed comments from anyone on my writing (lost in my feed), that if I’d known about I would have fed back on immediately – to help bolster friendships, and also to gain additional inertia and traction that is essential to all us minnow writers, but which successful authors don’t have to worry about.
I just thought I’d put it out there.
Thanks very much, Zoe
