Robert Core | 1864 comments No David, not the 10% solution. I didn't mean worldwide Christianity, I meant Christianity among the most powerful countries. The ones that can wreak the most havoc are the ones with the most erosion. This fits prophesy perfectly. I am, of course, thrilled that Christianity is taking hold in heretofore unfertile territory. It means more saved souls, but doesn't alter future events a smidge.

Rod Horncastle I agree with robert:

When atheists use the word Christian they are referring to THE POPE, Hitler's Germany, The crusades, Benny Hinn, Tammy Faye Bakker, and a Dog who barf's up Jesus in a burrito.

Christianity is eroding quickly. But thankfully actual Christians do NOT erode with it necessarily. AS churches fill with more Bible hating liberals (and Harry Potter Spirit worshipers) it really does not affect Christianity itself. The end will play out perfectly and God's collection of souls will arrive safe and sound.

you are right, it's about peace and apparently everyone gets it.

message 54: by Rod (new)

Rod Horncastle Joshua??? Not everyone.

message 55: by Joshua (new)

Joshua Woodward | 556 comments "everyone will be salted by fire", that's what it says in my bible, what about yours?

message 56: by Rod (new)

Rod Horncastle Mark 9
49"For everyone will be salted with fire. 50"Salt is good; but if the salt becomes unsalty, with what will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another."

A somewhat difficult verse (most Bible scholars state). Fair enough.

Is it really about God's righteousness. If you have none you (through Jesus) will be caste into Hell. Some think it is about the cleansing of God that comes through hardship and suffering... possibly - but this sure would NOT apply to non-believers.

The BE AT PEACE part seems somewhat unattached and may just be a blessing to signify the end of the chapter.

Joshua Woodward | 556 comments Did you ever consider that verse 50 is rhetorical question? In Isaiah God is the everlasting fire.

Rod Horncastle Joshua that is definitely to be considered.

My guess is BEING SALTED WITH FIRE is a bad thing. Especially if God himself is presented as Everlasting Holy (and righteous) Fire - and much of humanity becomes UNSALTED.

Does that mean humanity starts out PROPERLY SALTED? IT doesn't fit with man's modern nature.

message 60: by Joshua (new)

Joshua Woodward | 556 comments being salted is definitely a bad thing. Just think how painful it is rubbing salt in a wound. But the salt heals and the result is peace.

I honestly believe this is where Paul is coming from in Philippians 2:10.

message 61: by Rod (new)

Rod Horncastle Definitely peace for some - but not all. Similar to the angelic realm.

Robert Core | 1864 comments Guys - I believe fire in this verse is both good and bad and may be loosely translated as experiences leading to or taking away from spiritual understanding. We get feedback from both Satan and God concerning our lives' dilemmas. Choosing the pathway that leads to Jesus ensures "having salt in yourselves."
