Wow, how very strange! I re-entered the link, and it seems okay now. Thanks for the heads up!

sorry, from the description, doesn't sound as if he works in a school or that this book has anything to do with schools or education. If there's really anything there that's involving a school or his work as a teacher in a school, you can explain that when you post.

I haven't read the book, so I have no idea. The main character must be a medical researcher.

Doesn't sound like it would - the main character is the wife and it doesn't sound as if a significant part of the book takes place in a healthcare setting.

An Irish Country Christmas
Clearly the main character is Dr Barry Laverty ... and if the first two books in the series are any indication, much of the plot involves the treatment of his patients. BUT ... in addition to the actual surgery offices he treats many (if not most) of the patients on his rounds throughout the village and neighboring farms. So I'm a little confused about the second part of this option requiring the healthcare setting.

if he's off making house calls for medical treatment, that should work for healthcare setting.

Thanks, Sandy ... yes ... In the first two books he delivered babies at home, provided first aid at a farm and at roadside, and saw a variety of sick patients at their homes. A country GP in the early 1960s definitely still made house calls!

From the reviews, it sounds as if this book is predominantly focused on her personal life, not on medical care or patient issues. If you read it and it is predominantly focused on the medical issues/healthcare issues in visiting patients, please explain that when you post.

Could you confirm whether An Anonymous Girl would work for Option 1. It does sound like "Dr Shields" is one of the main characters, but maybe not the main character, and I'm guessing that if Jess is part of a psychological study, that would be in a medical setting. But I wanted to double-check
Thanks.

I haven't read the book, so I don't know. There's nothing about the description that makes me think it's in a healthcare setting, especially if this is some kind of set-up (since it's a psychological thriller). If the doctor is the main character and this is a healthcare setting, you'll need to explain this when you post.

The first edition has a MPG of Education, but the second edition, which I need to read, does not have enough reviews.

The task requires that "a significant portion of the plot/subject takes place in a healthcare setting." If that is the case, the book would work. There's nothing in the description that indicates this - sounds like it focuses on his political work - so if it does, you'll need to explain this in your posting.

Thanks for the reply. And, reading the book, it does focus on politics more than medicine, so it's a no for this task.

I have always been a "glass half full" kind of person, although the events of 2020 have challenged me! So, I've put together a list of some of the things that I'm grateful for and that have kept me cheerful despite everything else.
No books with the main page genre children or kids may be used. Your two books must have a combined total of at least 600 pages. You may choose two different options, or read two books from the same option.
REQUIRED: In your post, indicate the option(s) that you chose.
1. We owe a huge debt to our medical workers, who have had to work under difficult (sometimes seemingly impossible) conditions.
Read a book in which the main character is a doctor, nurse, or other hospital worker and a significant portion of the plot/subject takes place in a healthcare setting. The setting must be evident on the book's main page.
2. Despite everything, the garbage gets picked up, packages get delivered, and the grocery stores stay open and stocked. We have many people to thank for this and they deserve our appreciation!
Read a book by a single author whose initials are found in ESSENTIAL WORKER. All initials, including any middle initials listed on Goodreads, must be in the phrase, and letters can only be used as often as they appear in the phrase.
3. As the mother of two teachers, I can attest to the hard work under difficult conditions that has to be done by teachers, whether they're putting their lives at risk by being required to teach in person, or whether they're spending inordinate numbers of hours learning techniques for effective virtual education.
Read a book with the main page genre Education (standalone or embedded) OR
a book in which the main character is a K-12 or college teacher or someone who works in a school in another capacity (bus driver, guidance counselor, etc) and a significant portion of the plot/subject takes place in an academic setting or on a school bus. The setting must be evident on the book's main page.
4. Technology has helped. My 2 year old granddaughter recently demanded that her mother set up a Zoom call with the family. My daughter did, everyone participated, and it was great fun. (Of course, the 2 year old wandered away after a couple minutes, but the rest of us continued on!) We have had numerous Facetime calls with the grandchildren and children, and my daughters send frequent texts with videos and photos of the kids. So, although I am not a techie kind of person, technology has definitely improved my life.
Read a book from one of the following lists. Remember that all the rules apply (length, childrens, etc.), even if a book is found on one of these lists.
Future Technology Nonfiction
Science & Literature Together at Last
Essential Computer History and Information Revolution Books
REQUIRED: Specify the list you used and the page on which your book can be found.
