Did anyone watch the series premier of The Vampire Diaries? If so, what did you think of it by itself and in comparison with the books?

I DID!!!!!!!!!! I loved it!!! I thought it was a little different than the book. I didnt remember her parents dying or her brother Jeremy, well i havent read them for a few months so i cant really remember. but i did love it! They did a great job! i always pronounced elena L-EN-A not E-Lane-A
I did, and like other vampire movies based off of young adult novels I'm not fond of it. I haven't read the books so I don't know how close it is but to me it's just the same as all other teenage vampire concepts.
Haven't read the books, but it held my interest, I did some comparing to Twilight. But mostly I said at least it wasn't as bad as Melrose Place.
I watched it or at least part of it...the guy who plays Stefan is pretty cute.
what about the books? i just finished reading 3 and 4. i have to say that 3, the fury, was by far my favorite of the series. and i cant wait to get the next two books!

Well it's the only Vampire show weve got now. So I am going to have to learn to like it. I thought it was like real Vampires from 90120. The cast is supposed to be in High School and all look at least 21 or more. The guy was hot in a Donny Osmond sort of way. His brother was much more of a Vampire. Better looking to I think.l The one thing I did like was that they were vamps that were able to come out during the day. Which is the classic gothic vampire. Able to appear by night or by day. So I dug that aspect. The girl is so square. I can't even imagine her hooking up with a vampire. Its very shallow for sure. But its Vampire so I will be watching it. I loved the way the evil brother tore into that blond he was doing. That was real wicked.
they guy that they have cast as as damon (the mean brother) is perfect! he is exactly what i pictured him to be. i know this is petty, but im kinda disappointed with some of the changes that they made: elana is blonde, not brunette; bonnie is a red head; meredith, who is one of elanas best friends isnt even in the show (and i pictured her to look like the girl that they have playing bonnie); caroline is supposed to be a b*tch (but i LOVE that damon just dug into her while he was having sex w/ her); vicki and matt arent related; and elana has a 4 year old sister, not a drug addict brother. now, let me get off my high horse...
the show has a lot of potential. this episode was better than the premier. the tension between elana and stefan and between stefan and damon is great. i really like how stefan doesnt take any crap from damon and he was ok with exposing himself if it kept vicki safe. his whole, i am what i am but i dont have to be a monster thing is kinda nice. i like it when vampires feed on humans, but not when they kill them (im a wimp). but, more than that i like the contrast between the brothers. they will probably be more interesting and dynamic than the other interactions. damon is a scene stealer in a very good way!
Yup Damon was my favorite. I don't like it when the vamps kill people either. Its so unessesary. That is always how it happens is classic vampire tales. Vampires feed on the vitctim until they are wasted and then finish them off. It would make a lot more sense just to move from victim to victim. Revisting previous victims when they recover. Then you would not have to hurt anyone. I guess it has to do with the paranoia of being discovered.

Yeah I watched it, I loved it, I couldn't watch the last one because, my parents watched 'Survivor'. Hah! That show is so fake.
we recorded the new one so that we could watch survivor. i love my dvr!
thoughts on this weeks episode:1. elana is a very bad cheerleader and its probably for the best that she quit (also, those uniforms were very inappropriate for HIGH SCHOOL)
2. im very glad that matt is seeing how much of a jerk tyler really is
3. im sad about how they killed tanner. the book version is much more creative and interesting
4. caroline still isnt b*tchy enough
5. damon is wonderful! he is such a scene stealer and is absolutely perfect!
6. stefan can tell elana any time now...
It does rather suck. Especialy if you are into TrueBlood. WORD! : )
