"Alex what happened!?" Madeline slipped into sneakers and ran after him and dived into the passenger seat. "Baby what's wrong?" She was crying now to.
Madeline spotted her mom down the hall, who was pacing around the waiting room, clearly looking distressed. She ran up to her and grasped her shoulders. "Mom, tell me what happened. Where is she?!"
"Alex, I got this don't shout please." She put a hand on his chest and clutched his shirt in her small hand as she addressed her mother. "Mom?" Kayla sniffed and shook her head. "It was an accident. I was giving her a bath in only three inches of water. I was watching her the entire time until I wanted to grab my book from my room. I was nearly for ten seconds. When I came back, Ren was face down in the t-" she cut off and covered her mouth to sob.
"R-room 211. Down the hall." She nodded. Madeline grimaced and slapped her mom across the face. "I trusted you! You should have known better than to leave a three month old unattended. She can't even hold herself up yet! Have you not learned from your mistakes with me!?" She screamed at her mom.
Kayla flinched and kept shaking her head. "I-I-I'm so s-sorry maddie."
Ren was hooked up in a crib hospital bed. There was a breathing thing in her nose and an IV in her arm. A heart monitor was also hooked up to her tiny chest. She was unconscious.
"You are forbidden from ever seeing Ren." Madeline said darkly and walked down the hall toward Rens room.Ren was laying flat on her back with just a diaper on. Her head was turned to the side, toward alex. Her hear shallowly rose and fell as she breathed.
Madeline let out a soft whimper as she walked up behind Alex. "Our baby." She sobbed and hugged Alex's arm. "We need to find out if she'll be okay."
The doctor removed his glasses and nodded. "Yes, she will be alright. She was brought here in time thankfully. We would like to keep her here for a few days for observation."
Madeline ran up to Alex and threw her arms around him, sobbing into his shoulder.
((It's okay. I might be. Lol))"Is she going to be okay?" She whispered.
"Oh thank god." She sighed and took his hand and led him over to Ren's crib again.
"I don't think I will be able to sleep tonight." She murmured and grabbed a tissue and blew her nose.
Madeline walked over to the window and looked down at the streets below. The sun was starting to set. "Everything was so perfect. And now it's all gone to shit." She muttered.
"A muffin will be fine." She murmured and watched her mom get into her car and drive away below.
Madeline leaned over Ren's crib and stroked her chest, avoiding the sticky things what stuck to her chest, attached to thin wires.
"I'm so sorry baby." She whispered and stroked her flushed cheeks.
Madeline then gasped softly as Ren made a sound of distress and opened her little eyes. "Ren!" She exclaimed and cried again.
((Skype?))Ren whined and coughed cutely and wiggled her little fingers.
"Hey sweet girl." Madeline smiled and stroked her dark haired head.
A nurse came in and walked up to the crib. "Oh wonderful! She's awake." She smiled and checked her breathing and heart monitor.
The nurse looked at Madeline. "You could feed her if you'd like."Madeline nodded. "Yes, of course I will."
The nurse carefully unhooked Ren from the different machines, but kept her IV intact with her arm. She carefully placed Ren in Madeline's arms. The nurse rolled the IV pole over to the chair, Madeline following.
Ren looked tired and pale. She has a pout on her small lips."Hold her while I take my shirt off." She gently handed Alex Ren. "Be careful of her IV."
The nurse left once they were settled, trusting them with Ren and her IV pole.
Ren snuggled her face into the crook of his neck and coughed hoarsely.Madeline sat down in the chair and peeled off her sweater.
Madeline grabbed a blanket from the crib and covered herself as she sat down again and took off her shirt.
Madeline nodded and held out her arms.
Madeline took her and put her on her breast. She had to help out Ren a little, since she was struggling.
She covered Ren with the blanket and starred blankly into space as Ren fed.
((Okay))Two days later, Ren was allowed to go home. Madeline was changing her into a polka dot onesie on the hospital crib.
Madeline put Ren in her car seat and sighed.
Madeline fell asleep against the window.
Madeline slept well into the evening, until Ren began to cry.
Madeline woke up and stood up, swaying a bit because of sleeping for five hours straight. She patted into Ren's bedroom and walked up to Alex.
She sighed. "I would but my boobs are killing me. I have some bottles in the fridge. I'll get one." She went to the kitchen to retrieve a bottle.
"No." She objected and sat down in the rocking chair.
"Why are you sleeping in here?" She asked as she looked at the set up on the floor and took Ren from him.
She held Ren with one arm and fed her Ren the bottle. "I understand. But she's safe now Alex."
"Don't be sorry." She said softly.
"I am too babe." She said, then looked at him. "Maybe it's time we move."
"New scenery. New start," she shrugged. "Away form my mom." She whispered.
"I'm not sure. California maybe? But I also like the winter season. So maybe not here." She said.
"Hmmm, that sounds nice. We can research a little more on." She smiled.
She closed her eyes and kissed him back, titling her head up.
"Go to sleep then." She suggested.
"I will be there in a few minutes I promise." She smiled.
Ren drank from the entire bottle in a matter of minutes. Madeline picked her up and put her against her shoulder a burped her until she spat up on a blanket.
Madeline came out the bathroom, wearing track pants and a sweater. She frowned at Alex. "What's wrong?"
