Madeline stopped mid-push and whined. "I-I can feel that." She stammered.

"It all depends if the epidural worked or not. She should feel only stretching and pulling." The doctor said. Madeline took a minute to catch her breath then pushed again, sitting up on her elbows and grunting.
"Here's her head!" The doctor exclaimed once Madeline stopped pushing to take a break.
"Okay this is the hard part sweetheart, the shoulders. Take a minute to catch your breath then do one big push okay?" The nurse opened her knees wider.Madeline whimpered and shook her head. She looked exhausted. "I-I can't." She whispered.
She looked into his eyes with her wet ones and nodded slowly. "O-okay." "Come on sweetheart, one last big one."
Madeline sat up on 3 and pushed as hard as she could, screaming through clenched teeth, she then cried out as she felt the baby being pulled the rest of the way out. Immediately the room echoed with Ren's crying.
Madeline covered her mouth and also began to cry. The nurses cleaned Ren off, wrapped her loosely in a pink blanket and placed her squirming body on Madeline's chest. "Oh my god." Madeline sobbed and put her hands on Ren's tiny back.
"Alex, would you like to cut the cord?" The doctor smiled.Madeline sniffed and hushed crying red, rubbing her back gently with a shaky hand.
a nurse then took Ren away to weigh her and clean her up more. Madeline wiped her eyes and reached out for Alex.
"I love you." She whispered against his chest. Her body then began to shake.
"Trauma from the birth," the Doctor said simply and stitched Madeline up, cleaned her, and tucked her into bed with warm blankets.
Madeline curled up on her side, holding his hand. Her other hand was tucked against her chest. Her teeth chattered.A nurse tapped Alex on the shoulder. She was holding Ren, who was now all clean and wrapped like a burrito in a pink blanket. She also had on a little white hat. "Would you like to hold her?" She asked softly.
"She's seven pounds. Tiny little thing." She nurse giggled lightly and checked on Madeline, who was deep asleep.
"I'll leave you alone for a little while." She touched his shoulder and left the room.
Ren had her eyes closed but squirmed under her right little blanket, making soft moaning noises.Madeline then shifted in bed, moaning also.
"Alex?" Madeline mumbled in a soft whisper, slowly waking up.
She blinked her eyes open and smiled tiredly at him. "How is she?" She looked down at Ren in his arms.
"C-can I hold her?" She asked as she rolled onto her back and pressed the button on the side of the bed so her bed reclined up a little.
Madeline held her arms out and took Ren gently in her arms. "Hi baby girl." She whispered with a wide smile and stroked her warm cheek with her thumb.
Ren then shifted and began to cry. "Oh!" Madeline frowned and sat up more. She rocked Ren gently.
"Do you suppose she's hungry?" Madeline asked, turning her head to look at him. She truly did look exhausted.
"Hold her while I fix my gown." She handed Ren to Alex and pulled down the front of her hospital gown.
Madeline smirked and barred her breasts and held her arms out for Ren. "I don't even know how to do this." She sighed.
"Yes please." She smiled and hushed crying Ren.
The nurse followed and happily obliged to help Madeline. "Okay, so, hold her like this...yes! Like that. Good." She smiled and moved Ren around in Madeline's arms, adjusting Ren to her right breast. "There! Easy. You just have to support her head." Madeline nodded and cradled Ren's skull in her hand.
The nurse stuck around until she was sari sided with Madeline, then left. Madeline pulled up the blankets to cover herself as she fed Ren. "Babe?" She looked at Alex.
"In the bag there," she pointed at the bag they packed for the hospital. "My fuzzy socks are in there. Could you put them on for me?" She smiled at him and ducked her head under the blanket to check on Ren.
"thank you love." She wiggles her toes and sighed happily.
Madeline shifted a little uncomfortably as Ren fed from her.
"Not...not really." She shrugged. "It's just uncomfortable."
She glared at him playfully but laughed lightly. "Totally. But sadly my boobs belong to Ren now." She stuck her tongue out at him.
She giggled and rested her head against her pillow. "Well, you don't be getting any of my vagina for a few months." She told him.
She rolled her eyes and sighed as she took Ren from under the blankets.
"Yeah." She nodded and held Ren out to him.
Madeline covered her chest with her gown again and put her arm behind her head. "I'm restless." She sighed.
Just then, Stephen and Megan were at the door, and knocked softly. They had an arrange of balloons and a gift bag. "Anyone home?" Stephen smiled."Hey guys." Madeline smiled weakly.
Megan ran over to Madeline's side and hugged her gently. Madeline kissed her cheek and smiled at the balloons. Stephen put the gift bag on the side table and patted Madeline's leg. "How you feeling trooper?" Madeline shrugged. "I've been better I suppose." She smirked.
Stephen turned to Alex and smiled. "What about you dad?" He teased playfully,
"Why don't you rest you eyes? Megan and I can watch your little one." He smiled. "What's her name again?"
"Oh," his face fell. "Alright then." He sighed and sat down in a chair. Madeline looked over at Alex with concern. "You alright babe?"
"It's okay." Madeline smiled. "I'm sure Stephen will be gentle. Even Megan will." "Yeah." Megan smiled and helped Madeline open her water bottle. "She's a tiny thing."
"Why don't you show him how to hold her Alex? You're practically a pro." Madeline winked at him. Stephen sat up in his chair. "I promise I'll be careful bruh."
Stephen smiled down at Ren and held her head up gently with his elbow. "I didn't think babies were this small..." He murmured.
"Alex can you help me into the barroom?" Madeline sat up with a grunt. Megan sat beside Stephen and giggled down at Ren.
Slowly, Madeline stood up and swayed a little as her knees shook. "Whoa." She breathed and leaned heavily against Alex.
"Yeah man!" Stephen replied and made cute faces at Ren. Once in the bathroom, Madeline leaned against the sink counter and looked at herself in the mirror with a frown.
"This reminds me of almost a year ago. When everything changed." She whispered and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.
"The accident." She said in a faint whisper.
"Don't you remember? It's the first time you practically saw me naked. You helped me into the shower." She pointed at the shower ".
"No. I just really need to pee. But it's going to hurt." She sighed.
