Hannah Lee (hlbookworm) In my opinion, I do not like the cast for the movie (the main characters, at least). What do you think? Just by looking at the trailer, do you think the actors will execute the characters well?

Kitaba | 2 comments I hated the actors they chose too at first, but it turned out that the first trailer showed Jamie Dornan in a particularly unflattering light. I don't know what they did exactly to his face, but the first time we see his face in the first trailer as he says "I am"...

he just looks... not wholly unattractive, but a little old and not particularly beautiful either. Christian is supposed to be the "epitome of male beauty", so that was a little bit of a letdown.

The second trailer is better.

I think that the part where he's adjusting his sleeve while having his photo taken looks very, very Christian Grey-ish.

And, I've also looked at other videos of him where he's being interviewed and he looks a lot more handsome there.

I think it has something to do with his beard. He looks better with a stubble than without.

His personality is also quite endearing.

Dakota Johnson on the other hand... I didn't like her as Ana the first time I saw her and I still don't now although she's grown on me a little since then.

She seems like she's fun in real life, I like her tongue-in-cheek sense of humor, so I don't have anything against her personally.

And she's got the blue eyes, the brown hair and plain beauty, but she just looks too old for Ana. She's 25, not 21, which is not that big of an age difference in theory, but she looks like she could be in her thirties...

Maybe seeing the movie will change my mind, but right now I'm not all too thrilled about her.

I like that they seem to have chemistry in real life, though.

Hopefully, this will translate on the screen. Going by the trailer, it looks like it will.

Don't get me wrong. Jamie is HOT. It's I feel like (appearance wise) there's someone else that looks more like Christian Grey. Ana on the other hand... I don't like her at all. Maybe my opinion will change when I watch the movie, but as of right now, I don't like her acting. Ana's supposed to be shy, but I think her acting shy seems awkward. Am I the only one that thinks that?

When you say that there are other people who look more like Christian, who are you talking about?

I'm not asking defensively, just curious :D I mean, it's not easy to find guys who come close to being the epitome of male beauty so if you know some then yeah I'd like to see them! ^^

And yeah, Ana's actress... it's a shame. There are plenty of actresses that fit the role so much better physically... But I try to look at it from the bright side and assume that if they chose Dakota despite her physical flaws, she must have something exceptional to offer in other areas.

I don't really mind her acting. She does appear shy/reserved/awkward, but I think it fits Ana's behavior too.
