I nominate Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa and Charles Terry (Translator) which takes place in feudal japan (1600's).I second The Lighthouse Keeper's Daughter by Hazel Gaynor.
I'm curious to learn why Corrag, which I seconded, did not qualify. The nominator omitted to mention the author's name, but I supplied it in my second.

Abigail it’s because he nominated first one book and then that one straight after. Check above the Corrag nomination. Maybe if you haven’t nominated yet, you could get in and nominate that one.

I nominate Destiny by Design- Leah's Journey by Mirta Ines Trupp. It begins in Odessa ( Imperial Russia) but takes place mostly in my native land- Argentina 1900-1910.
