So since my website was created back in 2010 I have written 65 blog posts/articles. I have separated them into 3 different categories of Book Related, General Posts(though heavily horror oriented) and Book Teases. My issue? I have recently been debating whether or not to even bother writing anymore. I feel as though they go unnoticed and this is despite the fact that I know people on occasion view them and I always post them when just written to FB and Twitter. I also have them linked to Amazon and GR and yet I still feel unsatisfied about writing blog posts. So when it comes to whether or not I should keep writing blog posts I ask myself, For Who? For What?

They say you should keep writing because you never know when one post will really get people talking or if people read your articles they will more likely check out your work. I just feel that 5 years worth of posts regardless of being linked in several places isn't doing anything. This was just me letting off a bit of steam or stating how I feel about the whole thing. I have already decided to write a blog post a week and see how it goes.

Anyone else feel like this though? Does anyone else constantly write posts and even though people seem them but don't comment you feel as though your writing them for nothing?

Lily Vagabond (lilyauthor) It's not just you. I've been writing a blog since 2006, I think? My blogspot blog has gone through many changes and I update with a new design every once in a while, which I find does help. Keeping the content fresh. But I'm still lucky to get one comment per year.

It's the lack of interaction that can drag me down sometimes. It can feel like I'm screaming in space. Can anyone hear me? :(

I try to imagine people reading, perhaps enjoying what I have to offer. It's not easy.

But! I will say, that I went from 0 views to thousands of views per day since 2006 (ish). So, it's a small pay off, but it's better than nothing.

Katheryn Avila (katheryn_avila) I can completely relate, while my blog hasn't been around as long as yours, I do get discouraged when, week after week, hardly anything I write really garners any attention. Despite that, though, I do have fun writing the posts, and that's basically what gets me through the doubt of "No one is reading so why bother?"

To answer your question of for who and what - I write for me, and shits and giggles. I'd argue that you shouldn't keep writing just on the hope that one day you'll get noticed - keep writing because any writing you do makes you better.

Virginia Rand If it get's you down then take it as writing practice. Work on finding fun ways of expressing yourself and use it to improve your writing in general. That way you already get something from it and every reader is a bonus! :-) Hang in there.

Amber Foxx (amberfoxx) | 270 comments I read blogs that I love but I don't usually comment. I can see in my stats which pages got the most hits, but most people subscribe by e-mail and read it there, the way I do the blogs I subscribe to, so I don't see the "hits" from that.

My blog has a books page, a reviews of my books page, a blog section, sales links page, a bio page, and it's working to set it up that way. Some people just click on it to find out about my books rather than read my weekly musings. Not a problem.

Lily Vagabond (lilyauthor) You know, Amber makes a good point. Subcribers just read email notifications, that's it.

I guess it takes a certain amount of blind faith to keep going. Of course, if you really, really, don't want to, then you shouldn't force yourself.

Thanks for your comments everyone. I think what I'm going to do is keep writing posts, at least once a week and post them to social media or on GR if I feel the topic is broad enough.

I'm also going to go over the content I already have and fix up any loose ends.
