MaryEllen (mherrera2nd) | 90 comments Hi - here's our discussion thread for Part 2. Chapters broken down below.

Chapters 1-19 (up to page 282) - Read from 11/23-11/29
Chapters 20-36 (to end of book) - Read from 11/30-12/06

Let's keep the discussion going for Part 2 in this section; along with our closing thoughts on the ending.

MaryEllen (mherrera2nd) | 90 comments So I've started the second part of the book and I'm really enjoying the story! I'm glad this section is giving more history on Serena. :D

MaryEllen (mherrera2nd) | 90 comments I finished the book last night!! I really liked this story. I'll go into more details once I know you've finished it so I don't spoil anything. Can't wait to hear your thoughts. :D

Edshara | 43 comments Ok, I finally finished!! I apologize for taking so long. I really enjoyed it, but I had to force myself to pick it up. Whatever this funk is, I really need it to go away, lol.

I feel like the second half of the book almost felt like a different book but in a good way. I was surprised by the violence but I was so glad she didn’t hold back. I did however wish that they could have saved some of the other EO’s. Eli, so got what he deserved and I enjoyed how it ended, even though, we had to lose(temporarily) Victor. Dominic was a neat character, wish he could have been in the book more. His power was also really fascinating. The fact that he could disappear but was slow was so unique to me. I feel like usually characters with those type of powers also usually have some type of super speed. I like that they have limits or flaws in their powers.

It was hard to read through two attempts on Mitch’s life, lol!! Especially the second attempt with Serena. I really want to know more about his curse. Honestly this book could have kept going and I wouldn’t have minded. At the end, I still wanted more.

MaryEllen (mherrera2nd) | 90 comments Ah, so sorry you are in a reading funk! But I'm glad you liked the book.

Yes, now that you mentioned it, there was a lot of violence in the book. I was to caught up in the story to really notice that. Mostly that last battle. I was wondering how Victor was going to defeat Eli - I was trying to think of ways he could kill him without him regenerating himself. I was pleasantly surprised at the way Victor chose to stop Eli with the set-up.

Also, at the end of the book did you get the feeling the next book is going to deal with Sydney and her feelings about her sister's death? It seemed she wanted revenge on the killer - not knowing who the killer really was. I don't know what the second book is about, but it feels (from reading the ending of this book) like Sydney is going to be a major player in book 2.

And I also liked Dominic and thought his power was interesting although I felt bad that he had to endure constant pain all the time. I'm glad Victor's gift has allowed him to escape it.

Overall, I truly enjoyed reading this book and loved the adventure it took me on. I'm looking forward to continuing with Vengeful although I heard it's not nearly as good as this first book.

Edshara | 43 comments The way Victor set Eli up was so unique, I wasn’t expecting it. I was really trying to figure out, how he was going to kill him, so it was a nice little twist.

I agree Sydney was very interested in who killed her sister and why. I wonder what she might do, if she finds out. Victor and Mitch are sort of her family now, so how would each of their roles in her sister’s death affect her relationship with them? It’s also interesting to see how she’s still somewhat loyal, despite her sister’s actions, and with her being dead and her influence being severed.

I’m also curious to see what role Eli might play in the sequel, we know Victor escaped prison, perhaps Eli could too. I’ve heard mixed reviews about the sequel but I’m still interested in reading it. No matter what I want to see how it all ends.

Thanks so much for buddy reading with me. Even though it was a struggle, it forced me to read and I was glad for it. Plus it was nice to hear your thoughts on the book.

MaryEllen (mherrera2nd) | 90 comments You're welcome! It was a fun book to do a buddy read on. :)

I don't know when I'll get to Vengeful but maybe we can buddy read this one to. Maybe next year you'll be out of your reading funk.

Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! :)
