What do you think of these books?

What does everybody think? I liked the first one but the other three... there were disjointed, i had a hard time keeping track of the characters and I felt like I didn't even know the characters. In fact, in all four of them I found the writing awkward, that is third person AND in present tense. And there was a lot of telling. Whatever happened to show, don't tell?
